Re: Setting Voiceover To Speak When Connected To Vehicle's Bluetooth
Hi Richard, Simon & Mr. Ed, Okay, my wife and I spent almost 1 and 1 half hours on the phone with Apple accessibility and we never did get the issue fixed, so to speak. We can get Siri to read the driving directions but, we can't make the setting stick. So, everytime we want to use audio driving directions we will have to go into the control center to set it to, iPhone, or we can turn bluetooth off so the phone doesn't connect to the vehicles navigation system. I don't know what update changed how this worked, but it was 14dot something. I've read about connecting the phone via a USB / lighting cable but, that's a long way around correcting something Apple screwed up. We do have work arounds and the audio destination on the rotor doesn't do any good since Voiceover won't speak once the phone connects to the vehicle's bluetooth. I've shown my better half how to make Siri read the driving directions when I'm not with her, but when I'm with her we just use my phone since I don't have my phone set to connect via bluetooth to either of our vehicles. After thinking about it a little bit, this could also be something that Toyota did when updating the navigation system software, but according to research not likely. Anyways I'm just glad we do have ways around the issue. My wife absolutely will not take her eyes off the road to read a map, and with the crazy ass drivers out there I don't blame her in the least bit. Thank you guys very much for your input. Stay safe and take care. RE: Setting Voiceover To Speak When Connected To Vehicle's Bluetooth
Hi Mike, I know what you are talking about as my wife had the same issue. You have to have your wife’s iPhone connected by wire to the car to make it speak through the car speaker. It will not speak when connected by Bluetooth. I can get my iPhone to speak through my iPhone but I do not have my iPhone Bluetooth to the car. I had my iPhone connected to the car by Bluetooth and my iPhone would not speak through my iPhone speaker and it also messed up VO. If I disconnected it from being Bluetooth to the car my iPhone VO worked fine and my iPhone sound came out my iPhone speaker giving the driving instructions. I believe you have two choices to make the iPhone speak when doing driving. 1. You have to have the iPhone connected by wire to the car for it to speak and it will come out the speakers on the car. 2. You can have the info come out of the iPhone but you cannot have it connected to the car by Bluetooth for this to work. This is what I have figured out so far. If you figure out otherwise let me know. Is your cars Bluetooth on? Have you tried forgetting the connection and re connecting? And there is also the audio direction or what ever the feature is on the rota that allows you to flick between phone or Bluetooth etc. From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Mike B Sent: Thursday, 11 March 2021 10:33 am To: viPhone Subject: Setting Voiceover To Speak When Connected To Vehicle's Bluetooth Hi All, My wife is running an SE 2020 phone with iOS 14.4.1.
