Re: Siri and music recognition
Hi Max, Unfortunately, I think hearing aids have something to do with it. I also have hearing aids connected to my phone. This afternoon, the phone wasn't playing through the aids for some reason, and music recognition worked. I reconnected the aids, and music recognition still worked. However, it didn't a work an hour later with the hearing aids still connected. I turned them off, and it worked. It also worked a few minutes after I turned them back on. I waited a few more minutes and tried again, and it didn't work. So it seems that if the aids are connected for more than a few minutes, music recognition stops working. RE: Siri and music recognition
I still say it is a server issue, whether it be one’s own internet access, or Apple’s server at fault, it has not been an issue for me during all this time when others are reporting the problem. I have discovered with other things, that even though my phone shows that I have 3 of 3 wi-fi bars, I am not on the internet so I open the iPhone settings, toggle Wi-Fi off then on again and when it reconnects, the problem is solved. This has happened with streaming things or trying to use something for which I’ve turned off cellular data because we are on a limited data plan. So my only internet is through Wi-Fi. I don’t know if it is my phone or the router, but having the powers that be test both has come up with no answer. The equipment tests out fine. I would suggest, even if you don’t think it is the problem, try toggling wi-fi off and on again when this issue with Siri arises and see if it works after that… Richard, USA “Grandma always told us, “Be careful when you pray for patience. RE: Siri and music recognition
Shazam is not needed. It was an alternative that I used when I had the same issue as the OP with iOS 16. Now with iOS 17 identifying music with Siri works fine. Not sure what fixed it the update-or reset of settings. Shazam was and is more efficient and it logs the music you identified in a easy to access manner too without letting the world know what you are doing. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Tom Rash Sent: Friday, January 5, 2024 5:42 AM To: Viphone Subject: Re: Siri and music recognition Do we even need Shazam? RE: Siri and music recognition
Hello Tom, I am running the latest commercial release of iOS on my beloved 14 and Siri identifies music just as well as it has always done. In fact, even in a crowded restaurant or out on the sidewalk, Siri has never failed to respond with the name of the song in question. A couple of days ago, while in a car at a stop light, I heard music being played from another vehicle and, even as the light changed and our respective vehicles began to move farther apart, Siri managed to grab the name of the song the driver of the other car was playing. When I ask Siri to identify a song, I never have a headset attached to the device. Yes, Alexa—enabled Sonos speakers are using Tune-in Radio to bring in KEGR Radio out of northern California. Using Pandora on the same speakers to bring in the George Friedrich Handel channel I get the same results. Siri and music recognition
Hi folks, Up until IOS 17's recent updates, I've been able to ask Siri what music is being played on the radio, through my Sonos speakers or whatever. But now it says it can't recognize music right now, which it used to do pretty reliably. When I asked Siri why it can't do that, it gives me the usual BS answer about it finding something on the web but won't give me a direct answer, which is another pet peeve. Don't tell me that you found something on the web, just give me the effin' answer, dammit! I get so aggravated with Siri's apparent stupidity and annoying behavior.
