RE: Slide keyboard and Apple Pay and Apple ID charging
Sieghard, Thanks for that explanation. I'll give the slide keyboard a try after I upgrade and gauge its performance vis-à-vis FlickType. I expect I'll be sticking with FlickType since I use it for over 90% of my keyboard input and have spent a lot of time learning it and customizing its dictionary. But it is great that Apple is developing these other keyboard features to enhance on screen keyboard input. So, as you slide your finger to the place on the keyboard you believe the subsequent letter is, as mentioned earlier a prediction of what you might be striving to type is presented. So if you slid from w and head toward h and why is spoken and that is your first word then lift your finger and get ready for the second word. I think it is a great tool. Reggie, If you have Slide to Type in the rotor, you can turn the rotor to it, then flick up/down to turn it on or off. Once on, you can type in the method that Sieghard described. It sounds like you don't have to have it in the rotor to use it, the rotor is just 1 of the ways to activate it. RE: Slide keyboard and Apple Pay and Apple ID charging
Hi Reggie, I am not sure I understand, do you want to turn it off permanently or do you want to use it? If you haven't turned it off then it is as I said, you don't have to do anything to use it except what I explained, when you are in an edit field and the on-screen keyboard is there, find the first letter of the word you want to type, wait for the little tone and then start sliding your finger to all the letters. If you have a word with a double letter, as in the double t in "letter" you just slide to the T, then move on to the last 2 letters, E and R, it will still predict the word and insert it correctly. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of regina alvarado Sent: Tuesday, September 24, 2019 9:38 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Slide keyboard and Apple Pay and Apple ID charging Sieghardt, Thanks for the info. I guess once again I didn't make myself understood. I saw where you could turn it off. It just came up on my screen. I didn't take it off at that time, but apparently somehow it got turned off. Is the only place to turn it on in Keyboards? This happened twice now. The first time I fixed in keyboards, but it went off again. It's as if it is in rotor, but it is not. I thought it would just be there and I could use it if I wished. It's important that you slide your finger approx.. to the position of the letter and never to lift your finger until you are done or you hear Voiceover speak the word you want, then lift to insert the word, find the starting letter of the next word and repeat by waiting a moment, then sliding. There is no need to insert a manual space, it does it for you. It works somewhat similar to Flicktype except that instead of tapping the screen in the pattern of the word you start with the definite first letter and then slide. It works remarkably well and I think if somebody really practiced this and by "really" I mean hours and hours of practice, that person could learn to type super fast with this. I think the predictions are better than in Flicktype, I did words like "Netatmo" and it actually got it right the first time. This will be a feature you either love or hate, there will be many who won't get it and many who don't want to spend the time practicing, but I think this is like playing an instrument, you may know how to tap out a simple tune on a piano, but it takes hundreds and thousands of hours of dedicated practicing to be really good at it. Slide keyboard and Apple Pay and Apple ID charging
Hi, two questions. First, I have slide keyboard set in settings, general, keyboards. How do I bring it up when I want to use it? I saw I could put it in rotor. Is that the only way to bring it up? Second, I have my card in the apple ID. I do not want wallet or apple pay. Does my card in apple ID have anything to do with apple pay? If it is correct in apple ID it will continue to charge the things like apple music etc. Even if apple pay is not used? Thanks for any help with these two things.
