Hello, I recall quite a while back, they migrated everybody to the Sonos to
app. And that's what I'm currently using on my plate five. And I've had no
accessibility problems.

I have a 2020 LG TV with Web OS 5.x and the screen reader actually works quite
well for all settings and menus. I wonder if LG offers an iPhone app? Never
checked into that.

Or you just let the wife drive those things?

And yeah the sonos app advises you to turn off the tv audio and set it as the

As I just posted, we bought an LG TV pretty much exactly a year ago and have no
issues with the TV and the Arc, but my wife did have to go into the TV settings
because by default after we hooked up the soundbar it was set for audio to come
from the external connection (the soundbar) and the internal TV speakers, but
once that was done all has been good. I spend quite a bit of time reading about
the slightly higher-end OLED TV's last year and more less had narrowed it down
to this LG and a Sony model, but the LG I felt had slightly better specs and
reviews and we have been very happy with it although I guess I should say my
wife has because I just benefit from the audio and it comes from the Arc. I
only briefly played around with the screenreader which is part of the LG Web OS
platform and I didn't really learn how to use it, but it seemed OK. One thing
the sales person at our local electronics store said was that he felt LG's Web
OS platform was more user friendly than some of the Android ones and this TV
has pretty much everything from Netflix, Disney and Amazon Prime to Apple TV
built in and we haven't used our Apple TV since we had the TV. But as I
mentioned, I only watch TV with my wife so she always does the driving so to
speak and all I find useful is to know how to do Play/Pause and turn the volume
up and down which on the LG remote are nicely shaped buttons in the shape of a
Plus and Minus symbol, but of course when I sit on our couch I just have to
reach out with my right arm to where the Sonos SL is mounted on the wall and I
can use it to turn the volume up or down as well.

The Sonos app is completely accessible.

If you can afford the roughly $650 for the Arc, (and have room for it) give it
a try. It has Alexa or Google Assistant if one wants it, and it sounds amazing.

IN fact, I would call Sonos and talk with them about issues that may be present
with LG and see if they have a solution.

of soundbars comparing various features ... but I'm very interested in how the

accessible. And, although I'd prefer the Sonus product ... I've read where the
Beam tends to have issues working properly with the LG OLED TV sound output.
Therefore, I'm also looking at Bose and Samsung soundbars but avoiding LG due
to their app issues. As a side note ... most lower quality soundbars or cheap
ones don't often work with Alexa. Working together with Alexa is a must for me.

Sorry, and yes, soundbars play sound from the TV, that is their original
purpose, you put them under your TV and depending on your TV it may
automatically turn off its internal speakers once you connect a soundbar or you
may have to go into the TV's settings and do this manually.
The Arc has an HDMI connection to the TV and I assume the Beam does as well, my

you would go from your TV's optical out to the soundbar.

The Beam is a smaller soundbar, the item you are describing is the Playbase
which came out around the same time or maybe a bit after the original Playbar
and it does not look like Sonos is updating this, i.e. that they are releasing
a Sonos Base or whatever they would call it which then would have support for
Dolby Atmos and digital assistants.
In my opinion the devices to get right now are either the newly updated Beam or
the Arc.

You should look at the Sonos Beam or, if the price is OK for you, the Sonos Arc.
Just go to
https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sonos.com%2Fdata=04%7C01%7C%7C7a78b3ba3ff64973183308d9988348a1%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435%7C1%7C0%7C637708511900986302%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000sdata=b38zWHlZW6ZoUjzonJwdN2tgUtR553bCFT2s5KsOpJY%3Dreserved=0
and you can check it there, both the Beam and Arc are soundbars, but Sono sis
also a lot more as you can use the app to play just about anything on earth. I
have never seen another company which supports as many music services both paid
and free ones and the Sonos app is extremely accessible and the sound quality
of all their speakers is fantastic. Bot the Beam and Arc also support Amazon
Alexa and Google Assistant although you still can't have both digital
assistants active at the same time.
Lastly, if you invest in a Sonos Beam or Arc and you later on want to add a set
of Sonos One or other speakers in a different room you can always add to your
Sonos system which will then allow you to play music in different rooms, you
can group speakers and play the same or you can play different things in
different rooms.

Hello.

I'm in the market for a soundbar. Can anyone tell me if the Bose app is
accessible? I downloaded the app to test it out but it wants me to register
with my device ... and I haven't yet bought a soundbar. I wanted to test out
different apps before settling on a device.

I use the sonos 2 app and I have no issues with it what so ever and I have
older sonos play one and play bar equipment

I would say go for that,

But then if you get the sonos1 app and it doesn’t work then sonos2 will be what
you have to use.

My question is about which iPhone Sonos app to use. I seem to recall that the
current Sonos 2 app was poorly reviewed when the switch occurred from Sonos 1.
There still appear poor reviews on the internet for Sonos 2 and Voiceover. Are
Voiceover users currently happy with the Sonos 2 app? If not happy then on
what basis?

Thanks,

Sorry, and yes, soundbars play sound from the TV, that is their original
purpose, you put them under your TV and depending on your TV it may
automatically turn off its internal speakers once you connect a soundbar or you
may have to go into the TV's settings and do this manually.
The Arc has an HDMI connection to the TV and I assume the Beam does as well, my
original Sonos Playbar which does not support Dolby Atmos or any digital
assistants but still has the 11 drivers like the Arc had an optical input so
you would go from your TV's optical out to the soundbar.
I actually have to still advertise my Sonos Playbar along with the set of Sonos
Play 1 speakers and the first generation wireless Sub which I had for quite a
few years before upgrading to the Arc with a set of Sonos SL and the latest
generation wireless Sub.
I'm quite bad sometimes when it comes to selling old stuff, I have had my
iPhone 11 for over a year and still have my iPhone 8 sitting around in its
original box, all wiped and reset and occasionally I charge it, really have to
get on this.

I think the Beam is more than a foot shorter.
I would recommend checking them out in person if you can. Video Only carries
them but not knowing where you live or where they have stores, check around

Melanie, don't forget that if you want to try the Beam first that is entirely
your choice and you have a full 6 weeks + 3 days to do so and if you find that
there is an issue with the sound lagging which probably would take a lot less
than 6 weeks to discover, just call Sonos and get them to take it back and pay
the difference to get the Arc. I would, however, hazard a guess and say that
the new version of the Beam probably uses very much the same sort of processor,
also make sure you use HDMI 3 on the LG TV for the connection to the Sonos
soundbar because it is the one which has the EARC capability. I also bought a
$40 high quality HDMI cable to make sure I don't have a weak link in my system.
After all, I spend that much on a TV and even more on a Sonos Arc surround
sound package so I'm not about to use a $5 cable from Amazon.

Sieghard ... we have the exact same LG TV ... and, I, too, love the remote.
I've not read where the Sonos ARC has any issue with this TV but I was looking
at the Sonos Beam. I've read that the Beam tends to lag in audio behind the
video output on the LG OLED TV that you and I now have. Maybe the newer model
fixed that lag. I hadn't wanted to buy the ARC due to it's price ... but maybe
I'll need to break down and suck up that price.

Or you just let the wife drive those things?

And yeah the sonos app advises you to turn off the tv audio and set it as the

As I just posted, we bought an LG TV pretty much exactly a year ago and have no

because by default after we hooked up the soundbar it was set for audio to come
from the external connection (the soundbar) and the internal TV speakers, but
once that was done all has been good. I spend quite a bit of time reading about

If you can afford the roughly $650 for the Arc, (and have room for it) give it

IN fact, I would call Sonos and talk with them about issues that may be present

Soundbars range in price from the cheapest in quality and sound at about $99 to
the best in quality and sound upwards of hundreds of dollars to a thousand or
more. The Sonus ARC is quite pricey but most likely worth the cost if you
choose to pay that amount. I've not heard the Sonus Beam but people claim it's
quite good as well at a price tag of about $400. I'm looking at various models
of soundbars comparing various features ... but I'm very interested in how the
apps are accessible. I've got a LG TV and I find the LG apps less than
I'm all about making my home smarter.

In my opinion the devices to get right now are either the newly updated Beam or
the Arc.

https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sonos.com%2Fdata=04%7C01%7C%7C7a78b3ba3ff64973183308d9988348a1%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435%7C1%7C0%7C637708511900986302%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000sdata=b38zWHlZW6ZoUjzonJwdN2tgUtR553bCFT2s5KsOpJY%3Dreserved=0
and you can check it there, both the Beam and Arc are soundbars, but Sono sis
also a lot more as you can use the app to play just about anything on earth. I
have never seen another company which supports as many music services both paid
and free ones and the Sonos app is extremely accessible and the sound quality
of all their speakers is fantastic.

RE: Soundbar app accessibility

2021-10-26 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
As Simon and Garfunkel (oops, sorry, I meant Simon and Richard) pointed out,
the Sonos 2 app works perfectly well with Voiceover and all aspects of it are
fully accessible just as with the Sonos 1 app.

I use the sonos 2 app and I have no issues with it what so ever and I have
older sonos play one and play bar equipment

I would say go for that,

But then if you get the sonos1 app and it doesn’t work then sonos2 will be what
you have to use.

If you have the space and can afford it definitely buy the Arc, it's an amazing
soundbar.
If space is at a premium or the Arc is simply too expensive go for the Beam, it
was just updated so in terms of features it should be pretty equal and I am
pretty sure it also supports Dolby Atmos, just smaller and sort of like the
difference between a set of Sonos One and Sonos Five speakers, the Sonos Five
will sound a lot better, but they are also much larger and quite a bit more
expensive.

Subject: Soundbar app accessibility

Hello.

I'm in the market for a soundbar. Can anyone tell me if the Bose app is
accessible? I downloaded the app to test it out but it wants me to register
with my device ... and I haven't yet bought a soundbar. I wanted to test out
different apps before settling on a device.

RE: Soundbar app accessibility

2021-10-26 Thread Simon A Fogarty
So does your lg tv have a screen reader built in to let you know where you are
on the menus etc?

Or you just let the wife drive those things?

And yeah the sonos app advises you to turn off the tv audio and set it as the
sonos audio only.

I've got a LG TV and I find the LG apps less than

Any chance you've tried a newer model HDMI cable to see if that might fix tings?

I'll need to break down and suck up that price.

RE: Soundbar app accessibility

2021-10-26 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hello Melanie,

We bought a higher-end LG smart TV last year, a 55-inch OLED model, and we have
the Arc and it works fine.
This version had LG's A9 processor and it has the eARC HDMI port with the audio
return channel and supports HDMI 2.1 which is important if you use a soundbar
and want to make sure things like audio descriptions etc. work properly, can't
totally remember the exact technical explanation, but Jonathan Mosen has
something about that on his website.
The exact model of our TV is:

LG OLED55CXPUA
55" OLED TV, 4K, 120Hz, a9 Gen3 Al, ThinQ Al, WiFi, BT, HDR, G-SYNC, FreeSync

Beam tends to have issues working properly with the LG OLED TV sound output.
Therefore, I'm also looking at Bose and Samsung soundbars but avoiding LG due
to their app issues. As a side note ... most lower quality soundbars or cheap
ones don't often work with Alexa. Working together with Alexa is a must for me.
I'm all about making my home smarter.

Re: Soundbar app accessibility

2021-10-26 Thread Melanie Clouser
Soundbars range in price from the cheapest in quality and sound at about $99 to
the best in quality and sound upwards of hundreds of dollars to a thousand or
more. The Sonus ARC is quite pricey but most likely worth the cost if you
choose to pay that amount. I've not heard the Sonus Beam but people claim it's
quite good as well at a price tag of about $400. I'm looking at various models
of soundbars comparing various features ... but I'm very interested in how the
apps are accessible. I've got a LG TV and I find the LG apps less than
accessible. And, although I'd prefer the Sonus product ... I've read where the
Beam tends to have issues working properly with the LG OLED TV sound output.

It's all there on www.Sonos.com and in much more detail you are likely to get
here and when it comes to Sonos you can even just Google "Sonos Beam vs. Arc"
and you'll find plenty of articles from reputable tech sites with great
comparison reviews.

You should look at the Sonos Beam or, if the price is OK for you, the Sonos Arc.
Just go to www.Sonos.com and you can check it there, both the Beam and Arc are
soundbars, but Sono sis also a lot more as you can use the app to play just
about anything on earth. I have never seen another company which supports as
many music services both paid and free ones and the Sonos app is extremely
accessible and the sound quality of all their speakers is fantastic. Bot the
Beam and Arc also support Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant although you still
can't have both digital assistants active at the same time.

Can anyone tell me if the Bose app is
accessible? I downloaded the app to test it out but it wants me to register

different apps before settling on a device.

RE: Soundbar app accessibility

2021-10-26 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

RE: Soundbar app accessibility

2021-10-26 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
The cost you can look up at www.Sonos.com, here in Canada you automatically get
Canadian pricing and Sonos offers free shipping and a very generous 45-day
guaranty which is very much all inclusive, e.g. if you order a Sonos product
and after 6 weeks you are not completely satisfied you can just call them up
and they'll arrange for you to send it back, just make sure you keep the
original packaging and since the packaging is quite elaborate, I would simply
start a voice recording as you unbox the item the first time and make a
narrative of how it's boxed up and what you are doing so you can box it up
nicely again if you decide to send it back. I would be surprised, however, if
you were sending it back unless you have extreme buyer's remorse about spending
the money or simply want to try it out for a few weeks but are not really
serious to begin with to keep it.

RE: Soundbar app accessibility

2021-10-26 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
If you have the space and can afford it definitely buy the Arc, it's an amazing
soundbar.
If space is at a premium or the Arc is simply too expensive go for the Beam, it
was just updated so in terms of features it should be pretty equal and I am
pretty sure it also supports Dolby Atmos, just smaller and sort of like the
difference between a set of Sonos One and Sonos Five speakers, the Sonos Five
will sound a lot better, but they are also much larger and quite a bit more
expensive.

You should look at the Sonos Beam or, if the price is OK for you, the Sonos Arc.
Just go to
https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sonos.com%2Fdata=04%7C01%7C%7C7a78b3ba3ff64973183308d9988348a1%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435%7C1%7C0%7C637708511900986302%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000sdata=b38zWHlZW6ZoUjzonJwdN2tgUtR553bCFT2s5KsOpJY%3Dreserved=0
and you can check it there, both the Beam and Arc are soundbars, but Sono sis
also a lot more as you can use the app to play just about anything on earth. I
have never seen another company which supports as many music services both paid
and free ones and the Sonos app is extremely accessible and the sound quality
of all their speakers is fantastic. Bot the Beam and Arc also support Amazon
Alexa and Google Assistant although you still can't have both digital
assistants active at the same time.
Lastly, if you invest in a Sonos Beam or Arc and you later on want to add a set
of Sonos One or other speakers in a different room you can always add to your
Sonos system which will then allow you to play music in different rooms, you
can group speakers and play the same or you can play different things in
different rooms.

RE: Soundbar app accessibility

2021-10-26 Thread chrisjudge1967
Sonos is wonderful. Sadly I have no more rooms in my house to fill with Sonos.
I'm currently using the play base as my sound bar along with 2 play ones for
surround sound and a sub. I'd love to have the arc but can't justify it right
now.

Yeah, pretty much what I would state also,

 And as you said,
One of the biggest lists of available streaming services for music I've ever
seen if not the biggest.

Including able to add / set my local radio station as an alarm channel.

These guys are very cool to deal with also,

And they support their older hardware still as well.

The sonos app Is great accessibility,

And you shouldn't have to register a device
The account for sonos can or at least you use to be able to do it without
needing to have the device

But make sure you have the latest sonos app, as they did recently have a sonos
1 and sonos 2 apps,

The sonos 2 is the one you want.

Hello.

I'm in the market for a soundbar. Can anyone tell me if the Bose app is
accessible? I downloaded the app to test it out but it wants me to register
with my device ... and I haven't yet bought a soundbar. I wanted to test out
different apps before settling on a device.
