Thanks Sherry, I thought that might be the case. I got that same message. Guessing it's because I didn't file taxes. Seems like that system isn't integrated with the ssa, so since there is no tax info for many of us, that is what is saying. Rather frustrating, as I wanted to know as many of you do exactly when we could expect our payments, but no such luck. However, I have read everywhere that we are indeed elegible, and will be getting them, so basically we just have to play the waiting game. Eben: Also, it looks like those who have already filed 2019 tax returns are the first to get money, that is, if they have direct deposit set up. Those who filed last in 2018 will be next. Three people I know got their money in the bank account today and they report that they have filed 2019 returns. Another friend and I haven't filed yet, so still waiting. -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list. RE: Stimulus Info
Everyone making less than $99,000 will get a check. If you've filed taxes & get your refund via direct deposit, you will get your check that way. If you have not filed taxes or have filed & do not use direct deposit, you'll still get a check but it could take months as you will get it in the regular mail. If you want to speed up the process, you can go to irs.gov & fill out a form as a non filer. You will be asked to provide bank info so they can send your check via direct deposit. But if you don't get enough income to have to file a tax return, you have to fill out the form on the site to get the payment. So if I'm not mistaken, even if you get SSDI, if you don't get enough to be required to file a tax return, you have to fill out the form on the site to get the payment. Re: Stimulus Info
Do you know if the person you know who gets SSDI and who got the payment file a tax return in 2018 or 2019? If they didn't, then that would settle the question as to whether SSDI recipients who did not file a tax return during those years will get the payment. If that person did file a tax return during one of those years, then the question is still open. Re: Stimulus Info
Originally paper checks were supposed to go out in May, but I read somewhere that those could start as early as April 20, so if that is the case, we could be expecting something in the next few days. They said on Monday in a task force meeting that 80 million deposits were going out this week, and from everything I have read, for once the government seems to be on or ahead of schedule. But i haven't seen anything yet, and I am also on just SSDI, so really time will only tell. Enviado desde mi iPhone > El 04/15/2020, a la(s) 2:09 p. m., Larry Lumpkin > escribió: > > Hi Evan. RE: Stimulus Info
Hi Evan. I pieced this together from a google article. According to an online post from Michigan Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, the IRS will make its first round of payments beginning this week to people who filed their 2018 or 2019 tax returns with direct deposit information. About 60 million checks are expected to be included in this wave. After that, a second round of payments will be made — “hopefully within 10 days,” Dingell wrote — to Social Security recipients who did not file tax returns but provided direct deposit information in their other benefits forms, which Dingell said should cover nearly 99% of Social Security beneficiaries. A third round of payments will begin the first week of May, when the IRS will start mailing paper checks to those for whom the government does not have direct deposit information. Dingell said the checks would be mailed “in reverse adjusted gross income order — starting with people with the lowest income first.” Reportedly 5 million paper checks will be issued each week. Also, there is still time for those who haven’t yet filed their taxes or who typically don’t have to. The IRS economic impact payments will remain available throughout 2020. Am I eligible, and how much money will I receive? According to the IRS, you must be a U.S. resident with a work-eligible Social Security number to receive the $1,200 payment (or $2,400 to married couples who file joint tax returns). Full payments are distributed to those with an adjusted gross income of up to: • $75,000 for individuals. • $112,500 for head of household tax filers. • $150,000 for married couples who file their taxes together. A reduced payment of varying amounts will be distributed to those with an adjusted gross income between: • $75,000 and $99,000 for individuals or married couples who file their taxes separately. • $112,500 and $136,500 for head of household filers. • $150,000 and $198,000 for married couples who file their taxes together. Anyone who exceeds those upper limits will not be eligible. Also, anyone who was claimed as a dependent on someone’s return — i.e. children, students, older dependents — is not eligible either. A detailed list of eligible recipients can be found on the IRS website. For recipients in the “reduced payment” group, the payment will be reduced by $5 for each $100 of adjusted gross income they report above the $75,000, $112,500 and $150,000 thresholds, according to the IRS website. For example, if an individual has an adjusted gross income of $85,000, their stimulus check will be $700. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Evan Reese Sent: Wednesday, April 15, 2020 1:58 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Stimulus Info Well I haven't filed a tax return in many years either, and I do get SSDI. Re: stimulus info
I think I figured it all out, at least I have successfully submitted my info. I have to wait a couple days until I hear if my form was rejected by the IRS. There is a spot near the end of the form where you have to enter a captia. However, there is a spot for an audio captia which you can hear well enough. Are you filling It out on a computer? Maybe you could use Aira to help deal with the field if you can manage to hold the phone camera while doing that if you cannot get other sighted assistance. Donna has it right. Any link that is not directly through the IRS web site could be a fraudulent site. I've never heard of w h i o dot com. These kinds of pages crop up all over the place. That may well have been a legitimate link, but I would only trust going through the IRS site directly.
