Re: Taptic Time
I had exactly this problem on my Apple Watch 4. I tried everything and only got haptic time to work a couple of times and then it stopped again. I bought a refurbished Series 7 and set it up as a new watch and Taptic time now works every time! Taptic Time
My Apple Watch is running OS 9. Prior to this update, I had it set to give time by vibrations rather than through VoiceOver spech. Now, however, If I doule-tap the screen, I get spoken time instead of taptic time. I checked settings, and taptic time is turned on. I'd appreciate any advice. trouble using taptic time if watch is covered by a shirt sleeve
Has anyone else noticed that since updating to watch OS 9 taptic time is harder to activate if the watch is covered by anything. I have used it since figuring out how to use it. It has worked well for me even if it is covered up by my shirt sleeve. However, since updating it is now much harder to activate if covered. If I uncover it it still seems to work as it did in the past but I didn't used to need to uncover it first. Taptic time on Apple Watch, observations on how to maybe get it to work consistently
First, on the Apple Watch, open settings, Clock. Flick through beyond the Sound setting and turn off speak time. Then, make sure the next item, Taptic time, is on and the chosen system is highlighted. For me, it is the digits. I wear my watch on my left hand, and the digital crown is pointed toward my fingers. So in my view, the crown is on the right side of the watch. Ann Burn gave us the tip that tapping at about the 2 o'clock position on the face, works more consistently for her. Well, having experimented a lot today, anywhere from about 1 to 5 on the watch, in other words, on the crown half of the face, a one finger double tap gets me the taptic time 99% of the time. I had been tapping on the 7 to 11 side of the watch face, but tapping on the other side seems to have made all the difference. The watch still speaks the time when the crown is pressed, but now it actually provides the taptic time on demand. Thanks to Ann for that tip, this had been getting rather frustrating. RE: Help with taptic time on my Apple Watch
Ann, Using your tip this morning anywhere from around the 2 o'clock position to 5 o'clock, (basically, closer to the digital crown side of the face), I've gotten it to work 100% of the time. Don't tap two quickly, maybe a half second between taps If you start to say "one one thousand" on the first tap, the second tap should land on the first syllable of thousand, so "one one thou". At least, for me, that has worked every time. Now, we'll see if it works when I wake up in the middle of the night. RE: Help with taptic time on my Apple Watch
Hi Chela, In answer to your last question: Speaking of Apple Watch though, has anybody ever done the feature called walkie talkie on this device if so, how does it work? Yes I have, once, briefly, and it seems to work fine. You can only call other Apple Watch owners, and I believe they have to be in your contacts, but that is just a guess, and possibly wrong. I’ve not read up on it. Only one person in my family has an Apple watch and I tested it shortly after she got hers when we were in the same house. ? Re: Description of how Taptic Time works on Apple watch?
Ah, that makes more sense. Thanks for the info, I am looking forward more and more to getting my new watch. From: Greg Wocher To: Date: 2016/09/14 9:36 AM Subject:Re: Description of how Taptic Time works on Apple watch? Hello, If you do a one finger double tap, the watch will vibrate the whole time. It will vibrate hours and minutes. If you do a one finger triple tap, it will vibrate just the minutes. This assumes you already know what the hour is and you just want to know the minutes. I am not sure how to set it up exactly but I did listen to a podcast on AppleVis from David Woodbridge explaining that when you lift your wrist, the watch does not automatically speak. You tap with one finger once to hear the time, double tap to have taptic time and he said that you could tap with one finger three times for another, but I wasn't too sure what he was referring to. I know that I am definitely going to buy an Apple Watch, but most likely the Series 1 with the processor upgrade, as I find the Series 2 a little too pricy for what it offers extra. David Woodbridge just did a podcast on this. Look for the iSee podcast in your favorite podcatcher. Now that watch OS is GA is there any comprehensive description of taptic time? I am considering getting an apple watch now that I can tell time with it with out the watch speaking. It looks like you have to set this up once your watch is paired with your iPhone which probably means I can not try this out in an apple store.
