Re: Terribly SORE index finger!

2013-08-27 Thread David Chittenden
This means you are using way too much pressure. The touchscreen is not pressure
sensitive. You just need to barely touch the screen for your commands to
register. Practice barely touching the display and two things will happen.
First, your finger will stop hurting. Second, your commands will actually
function without any errors. If you hear your finger tapping the display, you
are most likely tapping too hard.

I use my iPhone for everything. I turn my computer on once every couple weeks.
I am always tapping, flicking, and so forth, and I never have sore fingertips,
hands, or wrists. It just takes practice.

Use another finger in the meantime, try split taps, that uses a second

2013-08-27 Thread Joanne Chua
Yes indeed.
Perhaps most blind people use to put pressure when we type with braille or a
manual type writer, or playing keyboards and pianos.

From personal experience, the harder i tapping and flicking and scrubbing or
thumping with my IPad or IPhone, often i have more of an inaccurate reading of
justure rather than what i intended.

Practice it with very soft touch. If you are a pianist, treate the screen like
you try to play in a PP mode, rather than a hard Forte mode. :)

RE: Terribly SORE index finger!

2013-08-27 Thread Alan Lemly
As many have said, I think the key is to use a much lighter touch. You might
also try using other fingers to give the index finger a break. I find the
middle finger works well for me but just be careful Siri doesn't
misinterpret it as a rude hand gesture.

2013-08-27 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi, let me add that I've been using the iPhone for well over 3 years and
have never had sore fingers from it. So, just do as others have
suggested and try to lighten your touch. Pretend you are rubbing the
soft skin of ... a baby's cheek, and you don't want to hurt him.

Hi,

Not trying to be funny but, how hard are you tapping the screen? No major
pressure is needed. The gentleless of touches is all that is need to use the

This means you are using way too much pressure. The touchscreen is not
pressure sensitive. You just need to barely touch the screen for your
commands to register. Practice barely touching the display and two things
will happen. First, your finger will stop hurting. Second, your commands will
actually function without any errors. If you hear your finger tapping the
display, you are most likely tapping too hard.

I use my iPhone for everything. I turn my computer on once every couple
weeks. I am always tapping, flicking, and so forth, and I never have sore
fingertips, hands, or wrists. It just takes practice.
