RE: Text messages in lock screen

2013-11-13 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Katey,

I am so sorry for your distress.

You know, there are two more settings you should confirm in order to insure
that Text messages will not be automatically read by VoiceOver on the lock
screen.

Do the following.

A.
1.
From the Settings menu, select Messages.

2.
Make sure the Show Subject Field option is set to off.

B.
1.
From within the Settings list, select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

2.
Just below the Fetch settings area, you will see the Preview option. Make
sure this is set to none.

Hopefully that will do it.

Good Luck,

Mark

So I double checked in generalaccessibilityVoiceOver and read in lock

Also, if I turn off my iphone when I turn it on, right after I reboot it and
it says VoiceOver on it fetches my email. Even without my having changed

App Switcher.

I think I need to see a Genius. I've had problems with this iPHone since I
got it. Not just the usual volume setting, but when I tried to use iCloud
to restore it from my 4s some of the programs didn't come, like Pandora and
I had to use my computer backup which then got me Pandora back but lost
ringtones.

I still have my 4s and wonder if I should whipe my 5s and set it up as a new
device? after re syncing my 4s as both cannot be in the cloud!

Please help me.

thanks,

Under notification center, in Settings, go down to Messages. After
clicking on Messages, you move down to where it says show in lock
screen. Disable that and you will no longer have your messages
showing up on your lock screen. It doesn't matter if you keep it to
alert style, banner style, or no alerts. As long as show in lock
screen is off you will not have your messages showing there.

Re: G-I-D Text messages in lock screen

2013-11-13 Thread Katey Glass
Yes, my read in lock screen was always sent to off but it started reading
them in the lock screen despite this setting havn't been changed. So I had
to do a fresh install of my iOS and when it was a new out of the box
phone it didn't read the text message in the lock screen, so I did a
re-sync to my iCloud and before the apps were downloaded it didn't read the
text in the lock screen, however as soon as they all were downloaded, this
morning (as I let the sync happen overnight) it's happening again! Gurrr!
I'm at work now so can't do anything. I'll call the person I was working
with last night to see what he sugguests.
What I may want to do is re-sync my 4s as I haven't had the 5s for so long
and let that backup to the cloud and then I'd have all my ringtones back
and hopefully not the problem. I haven't downloaded any new programs
(other than the ones Apple gives new iDevice owners since getting my
phone. Any other apps have been free ones -- Plus they will still be
linked in the app store. I'd have to re-donwload some BookShare books and
a BARD book but that's easy enough.
I just don't know what caused this behavour. BTW, if I mute my phone (by
pushing the switch to mute) it doesn't read them out on the lock screen.

I'm at work now, so can't really call Rick, I may try at lunch as I can be

doing at at the time.

For now, I've jsut put my mute switch on and then it doesn't read the texts

RE: Text messages in lock screen

2013-11-13 Thread Shai
Hi Katey,

Try going to your settings and notification center. Next, swipe right until
you get to messages and double tap on this. There is an option in there that
says show on lock screen. Turn this off and the messages should now not read
there.

Hope that helps

 Mark,

I appreciate your efforts. That didn't change it, the 1st setting was as
you said, but I did change preview first to lines to none and it still
reads my entire text on the lock screen instead of just saying one
message. :( I'm not sure what's going on and why it suddenly changed
behaviourss! :( This just simply doesn't make any send what-so-ever!

I'm at work now, so can't really call Rick, I may try at lunch as I can be
on an office phone but there are no other settings on the phone that we can
physically fix. Like I said to another email, I may re-sync my 4s to the
cloud and restore from that back up as that one isn't doing this, or wasn't
 doing at at the time.

For now, I've jsut put my mute switch on and then it doesn't read the
texts out on the lock screen. I simply don't understand.

 Thanks for trying

You know, there are two more settings you should confirm in order to insure

 Do the following.

 A.
 1.
From the Settings menu, select Messages.

 2.
Make sure the Show Subject Field option is set to off.

 B.
 1.
From within the Settings list, select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

 2.
Just below the Fetch settings area, you will see the Preview option. Make
sure this is set to none.

 Hopefully that will do it.

 Good Luck,

 Good Afternoon all,

I have a 5s running iOS 7.0.3 and suddenly today it started reading my
text/iMessages when the lock screen in son. I changed no settings! Up
until today it just told me I had a notification or something.

So I double checked in generalaccessibilityVoiceOver and read in lock
 screen is set to off.

I called Apple Accessibility and they were baffled. I then reset (again)
all my settings Guess what? I still have my SMS/iMessages read in lock
 screen.

Also, if I turn off my iphone when I turn it on, right after I reboot it
 and
it says VoiceOver on it fetches my email. Even without my having changed
those settings. I have it set to fetch to manually and mail was not in the
 App Switcher.

I think I need to see a Genius. I've had problems with this iPHone since I
got it. Not just the usual volume setting, but when I tried to use iCloud
to restore it from my 4s some of the programs didn't come, like Pandora and
I had to use my computer backup which then got me Pandora back but lost
 ringtones.

I still have my 4s and wonder if I should whipe my 5s and set it up as a
 new
device? after re syncing my 4s as both cannot be in the cloud!

 Please help me.

 thanks,

 Katey

Re: Text messages in lock screen

2013-11-13 Thread Katey Glass
OK I re-read that, show on lock screen, now the screen stays black, when
the message comes in, nothings read and just the text tone is played. this
may have to do, but I know for a long time my screen did come on, message
was displayed visually on the screen along with the text sound. Then it
would say the time and one notification.
strang indeed.

thanks,

Katey
