You would almost certainly be able to get more for your iPhone 8 if you sold it
privately rather than getting the little bit Apple would give you as a trade-in.
I just sold my Mom’s old iPhone 6S Plus 64 Gb here in Canada for $180, could
have probably gotten a bit mor, but I wanted to not fuss around so when I saw
somebody on a local Facebook buy and sell list asking if somebody had an
inexpensive older iPhone for sale I offered it to her for $200, she asked if I
was firm on that and I told her my Mom would probably take $180, but not less
and she came by later that day, gave me $180 cash and that was that.
An iPhone 8 if it’s in very good condition and if you have the original box and
are willing to include the wall adapter and a cable should probably get you
around $250 US for a 64 Gb model.

The launch of the so-called 2020 "iPhone SE," largely expected to be an updated
iPhone 8-style device, is imminent. Here's what's been discovered about the
subject of rumors for the last three years. The 'iPhone SE' is expected to have
a design basically the same as the iPhone 8. While rumors about a low-cost
iPhone refresh have been circulating for years, it now appears that Apple will
debut the device in early 2020. Here's everything that's been discovered about
the upcoming 4.7-inch iPhone. The 'iPhone SE 2' at a glance According to the

moniker, the device is more likely to be a spiritual successor to the iPhone 8
instead of the popular 4-inch form factor. At this point, that 4.7-inch
footprint is so likely that case makers are already going all-in on the size.
In late March, cases for an affordable iPhone 8-style device began arriving at
Best Buy . There may also be a larger version of the "iPhone SE" available,
according to leaked code strings within iOS 14. That device would be akin to
the iPhone 8 Plus, just with the same updated internals. We're not currently
expecting any major design overhauls like an edge-to-edge display, OLED panel
or a TrueDepth Face ID sensor suite. Like last year's stable of iPads, the
device will continue to rely on older tech like Touch ID and will sport aging,
bezeled designs. But its price point and internal upgrades, which we'll get to

Courtesy of OnLeaks and iGeeksblog. Apple is definitely going to give the
"iPhone SE" an overhaul in terms of its internal specifications. But users
should expect incremental updates, not major ones. Back in January 2018,
well-connected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that the "iPhone SE 2" would
sport an A13 processor - the same as the CPU in the iPhone 11 - and 3GB of RAM.
More minor updates could include a new Liquid Crystal Polymer antenna design,
which would give the refreshed device better cellular reception and
performance. Leaked code in iOS 14 also suggests that the "iPhone SE" will
retain a Touch ID fingerprint sensor, though it may support the so-called
CarKey feature for locking, unlocking and starting compatible vehicles. The
latest information indicates that the 2020 "iPhone SE" will be available in
64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage configurations and will launch in white, black

holding out on upgrading from older iPhones for reasons of price or

I changed the subject to reflect what is being discussed now.
I do not understand why you feel the need to store all these books on your
phone when the NLS site has them all stored for us. I use and love the Bard
app. I download several books, read them and then delete from the phone.
If you are a computer user, you can create a spread sheet with all the
titles you have read and put them in any order you wish so you can re-read
at any time and let the NLS do the storing.
It is different for books you have purchased such as the Audible books. But
I store them on my PC.
Please, don't think I am criticizing how you choose to handle your
books, Just making suggestions.

I'm glad that I do have a 256 gig iPhone 8. I'm so mad at bard mobile
because it doesn't work with the way I organize and rename my bard
books. Since I take off the DB numbers at the ends of the folder book
names the app doesn't recognize if I have all the books of an entire
series on my iPhone. The only way to fix this would be to redownload
any book I wanted back onto my iPhone even if I already own it and it
is on my external hard drive. That is so frustrating. I'm so tempted
to delete bard mobile from my phone entirely. It would free up about
86 gigs worth of space.

It's the best iPhone we've ever seen!

No kidding, I can't see them putting out a lower grade phone because they
didn't want to spend the money on R&D for the biggest and best,
So they thought they'd put out a 3 inch flip phone running ms dos 2

But yeah every new device needs to be taken with a grain of salt because they
may be great on the day of release but really they are only faster for 12
months at least then there is a new device.

Mean while the device you get to day should last another 4 years if you just go

It absolutely is a faster CPU, but what I am saying that I have had iPhones for
a long time and when Apple praises how fast the new chips are and they give
numbers like "twice as fast" or that apps open "40% faster" that is not really
all that much in real life and what people do with their phones. I know that
every time I upgrade and most recently that was from my 6S to an 8 I was
thinking "Oh, it's nice, but it's not all that much different".
As for being more future proof, yes, of course a phone which is 2 years ahead
will probably get a couple more iOS versions, but again, most phones nowadays
get at least 4 after they are released which means if it stops after that you
can have a phone for 5 years. The 6S, for example, came out in 2015 with the A9
chip and iOS 9. The SE has the same chip but was released half a year later in
April of 2017. Both still have support for iOS 13 so they got iOS 10, 11, 12
and now 13 and I guess we'll find out in June whether they still get iOS 14.
Not too many people I know keep their phone for 5 years so in many cases
upgrading after a year or 2 with the reasoning that you get more iOS updates
isn't a very good reason because chances are you would upgrade after 3 or 4
years anyways.
I'm just making the point that nowadays these phones are mature devices, they
are not new and experiencing major upgrades every year or two where you might
say I really need one now. I still think if somebody has an iPhone 8 it's a
waste of money to upgrade now, better wait a year or two and then get a new
phone with 5G support because the new SE will most certainly not have it so why
not get a new phone say in 2021, by then 5G will be well on its way to becoming
available and if you upgrade now to a new SE chances are you justify another
upgrade a year and a half from now because you want 5G support. In fact, once
5G is widely available it will be the biggest game changer which we have seen
in a long time.

What?
Isn't Apple's A13BionicChip in its iPhone11 &
iPhone11PRO/PRO MAX Better Than its A11 Chip,

I've got loads of bard books. My next phone whatever it will be is
going to be at least a 256 gig model. I've got about 86 gigs worth of
bard books and at least 20 gigs worth of various books and things on
voice dream reader. I really do like my iPhone 8 and I haven't
noticed it getting any slower. I took Richard's suggestions and did
turn off a couple battery saving things. I also just listened to a
couple episodes of apple viz podcasts on my google home which was very

Everything known about the 2020 'iPhone SE'
By Mike Peterson Friday, April 03, 2020,
The launch of the so-called 2020 "iPhone SE," largely expected to be an
updated iPhone 8-style device, is imminent. Here's what's been discovered
about the subject of rumors for the last three years. The 'iPhone SE' is
expected to have a design basically the same as the iPhone 8. While rumors
about a low-cost iPhone refresh have been circulating for years, it now
appears that Apple will debut the device in early 2020. Here's everything
that's been discovered about the upcoming 4.7-inch iPhone. The 'iPhone SE
2'

at a glance According to the latest rumors and leaks, here are some key
points about the "iPhone SE. The same footprint as the 4.7-inch iPhone 8
footprint Latest-generation A13 chip and 3GB of RAM 64, 128 and 256GB
storage variants Retain a Home button with Touch ID Retail as low as $399
Larger 5.5-inch "iPhone SE Plus" model at some point 'iPhone SE 2' design
Despite the now possibly confirmed "iPhone SE" moniker, the device is more
likely to be a spiritual successor to the iPhone 8 instead of the popular
4-inch form factor. At this point, that 4.7-inch footprint is so likely
that

case makers are already going all-in on the size. In late March, cases for
an affordable iPhone 8-style device began arriving at Best Buy . There may
also be a larger version of the "iPhone SE" available, according to leaked
code strings within iOS 14. That device would be akin to the iPhone 8
Plus,

just with the same updated internals. We're not currently expecting any
major design overhauls like an edge-to-edge display, OLED panel or a
TrueDepth Face ID sensor suite. Like last year's stable of iPads, the
device

will continue to rely on older tech like Touch ID and will sport aging,
bezeled designs. But its price point and internal upgrades, which we'll
get

to below, may make it a popular choice for many consumers. 'iPhone SE 2'
specifications A concept render of what the 2020 "iPhone SE" will look
like.

Courtesy of OnLeaks and iGeeksblog. Apple is definitely going to give the
"iPhone SE" an overhaul in terms of its internal specifications. But users
should expect incremental updates, not major ones. Back in January 2018,
well-connected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that the "iPhone SE 2" would
sport an A13 processor - the same as the CPU in the iPhone 11 - and 3GB of
RAM. More minor updates could include a new Liquid Crystal Polymer antenna
design, which would give the refreshed device better cellular reception
and

performance. Leaked code in iOS 14 also suggests that the "iPhone SE" will
retain a Touch ID fingerprint sensor, though it may support the so-called
CarKey feature for locking, unlocking and starting compatible vehicles.
The
latest information indicates that the 2020 "iPhone SE" will be available
in
64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage configurations and will launch in white,
black

and PRODUCT(RED) variants. All of this is to say that the new "iPhone SE"
will an entry-level device that will lower the barrier of entry for
Apple's
latest advancements in silicon, making it an attractive choice for users
who

have been holding out on upgrading from older iPhones for reasons of price
or familiarity. iPhone SE availability Rumors about the updated device's
launch date have shifted drastically over the years. In summer 2017,
reports
suggested that a second-generation iPhone SE could debut in early 2018,
for

example. Now, it appears that the 2020 "iPhone SE" will launch sometime in
April 2020. While a credible tipster indicated that Apple would announce
the
device on Friday, April 3, another leaker said that the launch is slated
for

April 15. More confusing are case maker leaks, with at least one
manufacturer potentially tipping an April 5 release date. At this point,
we're comfortable sa

Carolyn,

You didn't in fact get your iPhone 11 for $648, maybe that is what you paid but
in addition to that you are probably locked into a more expensive contract for
2 years. If the new iPhone SE costs $399 for a 64 GB model then that is what
you would pay if you buy it unlocked from Apple and you can take it to any
carrier and possibly get a decent monthly plan for $30 or $35, I am almost
certain you pay more than that.

That would be my advice as well, the only possible reasons why I could see
somebody wanted to upgrade is because they maybe have a 64Gb iPhone 8 and
really need more space or because they really want the carkey feature which I
assume you don't need.
Apart from that this will be just an iPhone 8 with a faster processor and
believe me, you most likely won't notice much of a difference for normal
day-to-day things, maybe apps open just a quarter second faster and you would
probably notice a difference with really CPU and RAM intensive games or things
like video editing, but in my opinion upgrading to this phone if you have an
iPhone 8 is a waste of money. My wife and I both have the iPhone 8 as well, we
both have 64 Gb models and my wife is sighted and does more with her phone in
terms of editing photos and such, but we have no plans to upgrade.
I have had 64 Gb phones ever since my iPhone 4S in 2011 and never ran out of
space even when I had my 25 Gb music library on my phone. Now that I have Apple
Music I don't store any music on my phone any more and even with about 500
pictures and a few dozen videos on my phone as well as over 100 apps I still
have well over 30 Gb of free space which after you count the space iOS takes up
is well over half. The only time I would buy a 128 Gb phone is if Apple at some
point makes that their lowest available option, otherwise I would just spend an
extra $100 for something I don't need. Of course that is me and if you think
you need this much storage then that is fine, but always look at what size
phone you have now and how much free space you have, if it's plenty there is
probably little reason to buy a phone with more storage. If you just bought a
new iPhone 8 last year there is no reason why you can't use that phone for
another 2 or 3 years or even 4 years although if you do you might want to spend
the $40 or $50 and get a new battery put in after a couple more years or
whenever you notice you have to charge more often or that your battery health
drops below 83 or 85%.

Best regards,
Sieghard

RE: The iPhone Special Edition 2020 or whatever it wil be called from apple Insider

2020-04-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Apart from that this will be just an iPhone 8 with a faster processor and
believe me, you most likely won't notice much of a difference for normal

drops below 83 or 85%.

2020-04-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Best regards,
Sieghard

Everything known about the 2020 'iPhone SE'
By Mike Peterson Friday, April 03, 2020,
The launch of the so-called 2020 "iPhone SE," largely expected to be an updated
iPhone 8-style device, is imminent. Here's what's been discovered about the
subject of rumors for the last three years. The 'iPhone SE' is expected to have
a design basically the same as the iPhone 8. While rumors about a low-cost
iPhone refresh have been circulating for years, it now appears that Apple will
debut the device in early 2020. Here's everything that's been discovered about
the upcoming 4.7-inch iPhone. The 'iPhone SE 2' at a glance According to the
latest rumors and leaks, here are some key points about the "iPhone SE. The
same footprint as the 4.7-inch iPhone 8 footprint Latest-generation A13 chip
and 3GB of RAM 64, 128 and 256GB storage variants Retain a Home button with
Touch ID Retail as low as $399 Larger 5.5-inch "iPhone SE Plus" model at some
point 'iPhone SE 2' design Despite the now possibly confirmed "iPhone SE"
moniker, the device is more likely to be a spiritual successor to the iPhone 8
instead of the popular 4-inch form factor.
But its price point and internal upgrades, which we'll get to
below, may make it a popular choice for many consumers. 'iPhone SE 2'
specifications A concept render of what the 2020 "iPhone SE" will look like.
The
latest information indicates that the 2020 "iPhone SE" will be available in
64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage configurations and will launch in white, black
and PRODUCT(RED) variants. All of this is to say that the new "iPhone SE" will
an entry-level device that will lower the barrier of entry for Apple's latest
advancements in silicon, making it an attractive choice for users who have been
holding out on upgrading from older iPhones for reasons of price or
familiarity. iPhone SE availability Rumors about the updated device's launch
date have shifted drastically over the years. In summer 2017, reports suggested
that a second-generation iPhone SE could debut in early 2018, for example. Now,
it appears that the 2020 "iPhone SE" will launch sometime in April 2020. While
a credible tipster indicated that Apple would announce the device on Friday,
April 3, another leaker said that the launch is slated for April 15. More
confusing are case maker leaks, with at least one manufacturer potentially
tipping an April 5 release date. At this point, we're comfortable saying that
the "iPhone SE" will launch in the very near future. But an exact day is still
up in the air. As far as price, that's less clear. But a report from February
2020 suggests that it could start at $399, presumably for the base 64GB tier.
That's about on-par with previous iterations of the iPhone SE, and cheaper than
Apple's current lowest-cost iPhone, the $449 iPhone 8. 'iPhone SE 2' name An
iPhone 8-compatible screen protector was updated to reflect 'iPhone SE'
compatibility on Apple's site. The upcoming 4.7-inch device has been given
several monikers by leakers

As always, questions like that are impossible to answer until Apple makes an
official announcement.
I only posted that article because there were so many rumors floating around
and at least, that author did his research and still made it clear, this is all
rumors.
No one knows anything until Apple makes their announcement.

I’m just as anxious as anyone else to find out what this is going to be and
hope to get one if the specs are like the rumors…
Time will tell.

More minor updates could include a new Liquid Crystal Polymer antenna design,

a credible tipster indicated that Apple would announce the device on Friday,
April 3, another leaker said that the launch is slated for April 15. More

Everything known about the 2020 'iPhone SE'

By Mike Peterson Friday, April 03, 2020,

The launch of the so-called 2020 "iPhone SE," largely expected to be an updated
iPhone 8-style device, is imminent. Here's what's been discovered about the
subject of rumors for the last three years. The 'iPhone SE' is expected to have
a design basically the same as the iPhone 8. While rumors about a low-cost
iPhone refresh have been circulating for years, it now appears that Apple will
debut the device in early 2020. Here's everything that's been discovered about
the upcoming 4.7-inch iPhone. The 'iPhone SE 2' at a glance According to the
latest rumors and leaks, here are some key points about the "iPhone SE. The
same footprint as the 4.7-inch iPhone 8 footprint Latest-generation A13 chip
and 3GB of RAM 64, 128 and 256GB storage variants Retain a Home button with

point 'iPhone SE 2' design Despite the now possibly confirmed "iPhone SE"
moniker, the device is more likely to be a spiritual successor to the iPhone 8
instead of the popular 4-inch form factor.

I would say that question is easy to answer and it’s pretty safe to say this
new iPhone SE will be available anywhere since I don’t think Apple has ever
released an iPhone which wasn’t available in Canada, Europe, Australia/New
Zealand and all the other major markets in the world.
Some devices may not be available right away when they are released in the US,
but I don’t even remember when Apple last released an iPhone which wasn’t
available in Canada and other countries the same day it came out in the US

point 'iPhone SE 2' design Despite the now possibly confirmed "iPhone SE"
moniker, the device is more likely to be a spiritual successor to the iPhone 8
instead of the popular 4-inch form factor.
But its price point and internal upgrades, which we'll get to
below, may make it a popular choice for many consumers. 'iPhone SE 2'

The
latest information indicates that the 2020 "iPhone SE" will be available in
64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage configurations and will launch in white, black
and PRODUCT(RED) variants.
The upcoming 4.7-inch device has been given
several monikers by leakers, analysts and others in the Apple blogosphere. That
includes "iPhone SE 2" and "iPhone 9. At this point, it appears that the device
will simply be dubbed the "iPhone SE," according to an apparent leak from an
accessory on Apple's official online storefront. The aforementioned tipster
also suggested that Apple would differentiate the new model from past iPhone SE
devices by referring to it specifically as an "iPhone SE 2020. It isn't clear
if the larger model - if it exists - will be dubbed the "iPhone SE Plus. While
