Re: A Question for Those Who Have Updated to Watch OS 4 from Watch OS 3

2017-09-24 Thread Lois Butterfield

Hi Mark,

This also happens to me. I have a series 1 watch and IPhone 7. It has
happened with both music and voice dream.

If I tap my watch, I hear IPhone and then the title of book or song that's
playing.

I'm hoping to order the series 2 if the price comes down a bit.

Take care,
Lois

Hi Mark and Sieghard,

I also haven't experienced problems with VoiceOver other than the watch
locking more often while I'm doing things. I'm hoping that some of this
is the result of using a first generation watch; I'm getting a new one
tomorrow, so I'll know better about that shortly.

Hello Everyone,

Perhaps I should have discerned this by now, after all the messages
posted in recent days but, alas, I have not; so, I'm just going to ask:

Are there any VoiceOver problems in Watch OS 4 that were not in Watch OS

Any reason why you wish you had not yet updated?

I am thinking I'm ready to update my Series 2 but, I want to make
certain I know what I'm in for, so to speak.

I would be interested to learn if any of you are using either the Duffy
and/or Fitport step-counter apps on your watches and, if so, do they
continue to function as expected?

Finally, one of my favorite accessibility features of Watch OS 2 is the
Digital Crown Navigation option. This option can be toggled on/off with
a 2-finger, triple-tap. Is this option still available in Watch OS 4?

All replies greatly appreciated.

Hello Sieghard,

I'm delighted that you now know about digital crown navigation. Aside from the
haptic time feedback, it is my favorite feature of the device. It's saves a
lot of, time, get it? Time? (big smile).

That increase in lock frequency is interesting.

Perhaps I'll wait a bit before updating.

RE: A Question for Those Who Have Updated to Watch OS 4 from Watch OS 3

2017-09-24 Thread M. Taylor

Hi Mark,

I didn't even know about "digital crown navigation", but I just tried it and it
turned on and seems to work fine.
I think battery life is bettr in iOS 4 (I also have a series 2).
I updated when the update came out in the evening and left my watch charging
over night. I took it off the charger at 6:30 AM and while I didn't use it much
throughout the day when I checked it around 4 or 4:30 PM my battery was still
at 94%. I thought 6% in 10 hours is not bad even if it's mostly standby.
Only thing I find and this did happen before so I'm not sure if it's worse or
less so is that sometimes the watch seems to lock for no particular reason even
if you are doing something. Sometimes when I press the digital crown it reads
the time and locks almost instantly before you can even do anything else other
times it's almost like it locks when you just did a tap or swipe.

Regards,
Sieghard

Subject: A Question for Those Who Have Updated to Watch OS 4 from Watch OS 3

Hello Everyone,

Perhaps I should have discerned this by now, after all the messages posted in
recent days but, alas, I have not; so, I'm just going to ask:

Are there any VoiceOver problems in Watch OS 4 that were not in Watch OS 3?
Any reason why you wish you had not yet updated?

I am thinking I'm ready to update my Series 2 but, I want to make certain I
know what I'm in for, so to speak.

I would be interested to learn if any of you are using either the Duffy and/or
Fitport step-counter apps on your watches and, if so, do they continue to
function as expected?

Finally, one of my favorite accessibility features of Watch OS 2 is the Digital
Crown Navigation option. This option can be toggled on/off with a 2-finger,
triple-tap. Is this option still available in Watch OS 4?

All replies greatly appreciated.

Mark

Hi Sieghard,

Pedometer++ and, I assume, the ones Mark mentioned can show your step count as
a complication on your screen. It doesn't gather data, it just displays it, but
normally I would have to go into the Activity app to get the info.

Hi Mark and Sieghard,

I also haven't experienced problems with VoiceOver other than the watch locking
more often while I'm doing things. I'm hoping that some of this is the result
of using a first generation watch; I'm getting a new one tomorrow, so I'll know
better about that shortly.

I don't use the apps you mentioned, but Pedometer++ is tracking steps just fine.

Just out of curiocity, why do you guys use third party apps when the Apple
Watch already shows steps?

Hi Mark and Sieghard,

I also haven't experienced problems with VoiceOver other than the watch locking
more often while I'm doing things. I'm hoping that some of this is the result
of using a first generation watch; I'm getting a new one tomorrow, so I'll know
better about that shortly.

I don't use the apps you mentioned, but Pedometer++ is tracking steps just fine.

Best,
Anna

RE: A Question for Those Who Have Updated to Watch OS 4 from Watch OS 3

2017-09-24 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Regards,
Sieghard

Hi Robin,

That's exactly what I ended up having to do. I found this out by doing some
googling. Wish Apple would let people know that when they participate in this
program. Oh well, that's part of the fun of living on the bleeding edge :-)

Are you on the public beta programme? I was and I found that I had to go into
profiles under general settings in the Watch app and delete the public beta
programme profile and then check for updates again before it showed the update.
I might have even had to reboot my phone first too, I don’t recall.

Thanks, Robin
