weather app question

2013-03-06 Thread Lori Dent

Hi all,

I have a question about the weather app that we all have on are I phones. I
noticed the other day when I went to a different city, the weather app
didn't display that cities weather and temperature. It stayyed on Kent's
display. I know that this weather app is supposed to display the weather for
the surrounding cities but it's not doing it. So how can I get this back to
doing just that. Is there a turn on local weather button and where is it?
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Weather App Question.

2012-12-08 Thread Jim Noseworthy
Hi Gang:

In the default Apple's weather, how does one get back to page 1. I doubled
tapped the page change button until I got to page 4. I can't seem to find how
to decrement to page 1.

Any help would be appreciated all over the place.

Try using a three finger horrizontal swipe to change pages. Page 1 should be

Re: Weather app question

2014-05-29 Thread Alex Hall
Open Weather. In the bottom right corner is a button labeled "edit cities".
Double tapping that brings up a list of the cities you have, each of which is a
button. Double tapping any city will switch to it; the trick is to do a
one-finger flick up on the city. VO will say "delete", you double tap, and the
city is removed.

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone can tell me, if its possible to add other
Countries to the Overcast app, other than the one in which I'm located.

I.e. As I'm in the UK, can I add any of the States to check the weather
there?. and if so, how?.

RE: Reordering locations in the native weather app question.

2018-08-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Del,

I live in a town called Smithers in British Columbia, the rest of my family is
in Fort St. John, also in BC and I also have Vancouver and some other cities in
my list.
When I first open the Weather app the first in the list seems to show the
details, that is Smithers, my home town.
If I touch at the bottom of the screen just above the home button I have a
picker box where it says "Smithers", 1 of 12", to the right of that and the
very last item on the screen is an "Edit Cities" button.
If I double tap that button I then see a list of all the cities and each of
them is read by Voiceover with their name, the local time and the current
temperature and then Voiceover says"button" at the end.
I can now double tap and hold until I hear the little TriTone and then drag my
finger up or down, if for example I double tap and hold on Smithers at the very
top and drag down a bit Voiceover says "After Fort St. John" which happens to
be just underneath, if I now let go and check I have Fort St. John at the top
and Smithers underneath.
If this doesn't work for you I'd make sure first of all your screen is clean, a
dirty screen can mess with gestures and also make sure you don't double tap and
hold too hard, not much pressure is needed.

Regards,
Sieghard

A weather app for Canadians, was: Another Weather App Question.

2012-12-08 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Jim,

I am in British Columbia and I find the native weather app that comes with
the iPhone is not very good. I use an app called "Degrees" it is a Canadian
weather app and uses the same information you get on the Environment Canada
weather forecast website. It lists current conditions including temperature,
whether it's cloudy/sunny/overcast etc., humidity, wind, pressure,
windchill/humadex, air quality (where supported) and then it gives you the
7-day forecast. You can even set it so the current temperature is displayed
on the badge icon, however due to limitations imposed by Apple it would be
spoken like this "Degrees, 5 new items". This would be if the temperature is
either +5 Celsius or minus 5 Celsius. The developers told me that they can't
display the minus sign because Apple doesn't allow it, but I still find it
useful since I typically know if it's plus or minus outside, only time when
it is ambiguous is if it's just 1 or 2 or 3 degrees plus or minus. If you
enable this in the app settings and it's exactly 0 degrees it would just say
"Degrees" with nothing else.

You can add cities and once you added them you can easily choose which
forecast you want to see, once the app opens you have a list of the
cities/towns you added and the app is, of course, very Voiceover friendly
since I am completely blind as well and use Voiceover exclusively.

Regards,
Sieghard

RE: A weather app for Canadians, was: Another Weather App Question.

2012-12-08 Thread Marco Migotti
I would add my vote for degrees app as I have been using it for over a year
and it is fabulous. Weather warnings are especially sent to you on a timely
basis making it useful for knowing about tornado and severe thunder storm
warnings which we get here in southern alberta quite frequently during the
summer.

RE: A weather app for Canadians, was: Another Weather App Question.

2012-12-08 Thread Marco Migotti
I found the item in the degrees app to enable badge notifications. First you
need to tap on locations back button and in the top left tap on the settings
button. Below the locations list there are a bunch of things like selecting
units of measure and below that there is a line that says "push
notifications" tap on this and you will get a list of things that you can do
and one of them is the badge notification switch which is set to off by
default. Give this a try and see if it works for you like it did for me.

I do have that app myself; however, my questions were on behalf of a client of
mine.

Again, thanks all over the place.
