Re: apple music to spotify

2020-02-28 Thread Cedric Green
Yes I used a site called Tune my music a month ago to transfer my library
from Spotify to Apple Music. The site is 100% free. I ran into a site that
had a transfer limit and could not transfer my whole library without
paying. The site took a few hours but ran in the background . I have not
received any solicitation emails from the site since I used them.On Fri,

RE: Differences between Apple Music, and Spotify

2017-01-05 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Both are subscription music services with similar features, if you are invested
in iOS devices (iPhone, Apple TV etc.) Apple Music to me is a better way to go
as you can use SIRI to ask for your music, e.g. "Play Taylor Swift" or "Play
the top 20 songs of 1984" or "Play country music" etc. You can ask SIRI on the
iPhone and also use the SIRI remote on the fourth generation Apple TV to ask
for music.
With Apple Music you can select an artist or a song and play a radio station
based on this artist or song which has similar music and yes, you can download
music for off-line listening, but of course if you stop paying your
subscription you don't have access to that music any more.
Also, if you are part of a family Apple Music costs $14.99 and then up to 4
people which must be part of your family account can use it and each can have
their own suggestions, preferences etc.
If you Google "Apple Music vs Spotify" you find all sorts of articles which
probably go into much more details as to where one service is better than the
other. One thing that came up right away when I did this was an article which
said that Spotify says they have "More than 30 Million songs" but they don't
say how many more. Apple Music claims they have 40 million songs, I think Apple
Music has an exclusive on Taylor Swift, but I don't know if this is the case
any more.
You can definitely play artists and albums ond emand with Apple Music whenever
you want and download entire albums, but again, you have to maintain your
subscription in order for them to play.

Sieghard

Subject: Differences between Apple Music, and Spotify

Hello everybody,

As my subject says, I would like to know the differences between Apple Music,
and Spotify. I already have a Spotify account, and pay for the service as of
right now. I really enjoy it!

I do know a lot of what I will get from this question will be opinions, but
that is certainly all right. I really enjoy my Spotify account, because I can
choose what I want to listen to, I can choose other artists that are similar to
the artist I like, I can listen to certain things off-line, though I haven't
tried this feature out yet. I can save stuff. And just other things that I
really like about it. So my question is this.
Are there really any differences between what you can do with Spotify, and what
you can do with Apple Music?
For instance, if I want an album, or certain songs with Apple Music, would I
still have to pay for them, even if I have an account? Does anyone really know
if one service offers more music and stuff, then the other service? If so, how
would anyone really actually know this? And last but not least, when I go to
download songs, when the show, the voice is on, I have course have to pay for
them.
What I have to do this if I had an Apple Music account?
If I do still have to pay, or I mean, if I don't have to pay, does anyone know
if the votes for the person would count?

Any thoughts or suggestions on this would really be appreciated. The voice is
really the only reality TV show that I like. And since I don't use Twitter,
downloading from Apple is the only way I can vote, when it comes time for this.
Thank you,

Terrir

RE: Apple Music and Spotify

2016-08-21 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Scott,

It is my understanding that the reason why you can't buy books from the Audible
app is because if this were possible Audible (Amazon) would have to pay Apple
as it would be considered to be an in-app purchase. I'm not saying that this
necessarily is an excuse, I'm sure Apple could allow the purchase of digital
content and somehow differentiate this from other in-app purchases.

As for opening up the SIRI API for apps like Audible or other music streaming
services that is in my view just a matter of time.

Also, as for Apple Music on other platforms, it may not work with the Amazon
Echo, but it works beautifully with Sonos. Now Sonos just has to somehow make
it possible to allow for SIRI input as well since of course inside the Sonos
app tcontrolling Apple Music with SIRI is not possible.

Regards,
Sieghard

A few comments
First, I highly doubt Apple will open up the Siri API to music apps, since that
would take away a bit from the draw of Apple Music. Kind of like how you cannot
purchase Kindle books on your iDevice or content from audible. If it's in
direct competition with Apple, the likelyhood they would allow it seems rather
low to me.
What I like most about Spotify is that the radio feature seems to work better,
and I'm able to use it on all my devices: my PC at work, my iPhone, and my Echo
Dot. Apple Music is a pain to use on anything other than an Apple product, and
doesn't exist on the Echo platform.
I've not tried the Windows app, and that's off topic for this list, but now
that I have Win 10, I may.

Re: Apple Music and Spotify

2016-08-21 Thread Scott Davert
A few comments
First, I highly doubt Apple will open up the Siri API to music apps,
since that would take away a bit from the draw of Apple Music. Kind of
like how you cannot purchase Kindle books on your iDevice or content
from audible. If it's in direct competition with Apple, the likelyhood
they would allow it seems rather low to me.
What I like most about Spotify is that the radio feature seems to work
better, and I'm able to use it on all my devices: my PC at work, my
iPhone, and my Echo Dot. Apple Music is a pain to use on anything
other than an Apple product, and doesn't exist on the Echo platform.
I've not tried the Windows app, and that's off topic for this list,
but now that I have Win 10, I may.

Re: Apple Music and Spotify

2016-08-21 Thread Davy Cuppens
Hi

I don’t have the purpose to make an advertisement here but I want to state that
the owners of a paypal account now have the possibility to have 60 days spotify
premium for free and I did so.

I have one question. Can it be that it is not possible with an iphone to create
a new playlist.

For my pc I have the windows os and NVDA and downloaded tthe web app spotify,
it’s almost fully accessible and I managed to create my own playlists and give
them names and thus I can add songs to these own lists with my iphone without
any problems when using the context menu in the ios app but creating my own
playlists with the phone doesn’t seem to work now or am I missing something?

You can always get premium, which takes away all limitations and ads. I wish
they would specify all of the differences somewhere in the app. Apparently
downloading requires premium. And I gather that you can get higher quality if
you're using premium. But I haven't seen a list of all those things. I wish
there was one maybe I'm missing it.

One thing that I like with Spotify is that if I choose not to have the
premium version, I can still retain my playlists. With Apple Music, if
I no longer keep my subscription, I will no longer have access to the
music that I have grown to love. In fact, even the radio is
unavailable. *sad*

RE: Apple Music and Spotify

2016-08-20 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
It will be available for third party apps, but it is going to be restricted at
least for now. Here is an excerpt from an article on 9to5 Mac:

For iOS 10.0, the Siri API will only work with six kinds of application:
ride booking (think Uber)
Messaging
Photo Search (find photos and videos in a particular app)
Payments (‘Send $100 to John with SquareCash’)
VoIP Calling (e.g: Skype)
Workouts (for starting health and fitness activities)

The experience for users should be great as long as you are wanting to use
these types of third-party apps in Siri as Apple handles the complex voice
understanding. Users must form questions with nouns like ‘WeChat’ to indicate
they want to interact with a third-party app.
The SiriKit response API's are flexible enough to allow these apps to reply
with custom, rich, UI. Users will be able to complete their task inline to the
Siri conversation interface; you don’t have to jump into an app.
However, the way this system is structured it leaves a lot of apps shut out, in
the cold. Out of the 2 million apps in the App Store, how many fall under the
support of the six categories? This is the primary downside of the system Apple
devised.
Some major classes of application are not covered by the third-party Siri SDK
which Siri is often used for: music apps, podcast apps, sport statistics,
email, reminders and to-do lists and more. It’s unclear how this will be
policed too: could an email app class itself as a text message app to slip into
the Siri experience? This seems like a controversial area for App Review come
September.
In future versions of iOS, it is reasonable to expect Apple to expand the
number of app types that can integrate with Siri. iOS 10.1 could easily add a
couple new kinds of integration. However, will it expand into certain areas
that it wants to dominate with first-party services?
An obvious omission from the Siri iOS 10 implementation is third-party
integration for media apps like music streaming.
With iOS 10, Apple Music will be the only way to play audio via Siri. Apple
probably loves this but for users of competing music services, there is no
ability for developers to be able to add Siri integration. Apps like Spotify,
Pandora and Google Pay Music are left in the cold. Apple could add a new music
media type for Siri SDK in future but will they? Will they keep it closed to
boost up its own $9.99 streaming service, Apple Music?
This is an open question: we will have to wait and see how quickly Apple ramps
the Siri SDK and expands the base of possible apps. For the public, Siri SDK
launches with iOS 10 in the fall.

Sieghard

Hello, remember, though, Siri is now going to be opened up for third party
apps, so that could well be possible soon enough.

Yes, it will be opened up for certain limited categories of apps to start
with. I can't remember if music or video apps were in the list, but I don't
think so. Maybe in the future.

RE: Apple Music and Spotify

2016-08-20 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
Hi,

I’ve searched for some albums on AppleMusic and came up with nothing. Some of
the albums were on Spotify.

This happens infrequently. I used to have Spotify Premium, but canceled it when
AppleMusic became available within Sonos. I’ve kept the Spotify account open
within Sonos, so I can see when they have an album and AppleMusic doesn’t when
I do a Search within Sonos. But, having no active Sonos account any more, I
can’t access that. If I get to a point that I really want to listen to the
music Spotify offers that AppleMusic appears to not, then I can always
reactivate my Spotify Premium. But for now, I’m mostly satisfied with
AppleMusic.

Keith

Yeah, Spotify is still more difficult to use on the iPad unfortunately. Yet
works well on the iPhone and should be the same on the iPod since well the iPod
is an iPhone without the phone.

Hi Christopher,
I am curious about your Spotify experience, whether or not you tried it on an
iPad as well as the phone. Maybe you don't have an iPad, I don't know. I recall
from a while ago when I had Spotify for a while, then it was much more
difficult to use on the iPad and the phone. I don't even remember why.

It is a treat to use especially on the IPhone.

Hello everyone.

While I am committed to Apple Music as am subscribed to the family plan, I’m
sorry, but wow! Spotify is now completely accessible from what I can see. The
interface is also no longer hard to use. Found out today that Spotify is RNIB’s
app of the month so thought to check out the latest version and am amazed so
far with the usability and accessibility of the app. Sure I used Spotify
countless times before, and there was always something missing with the app.
That seems to now be a thing of the past. As for membership, the free one will
do. I can live with ads.

Happy listening!!!
