RE: can't type on my iphone 5

2015-01-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Jed,

Do you normally use touch typing or standard typing? If you are used to touch
typing and accidently switched to standard typing it may appear like what you
described. In standard typing you have to find a character and then either do a
double tap or split tap to type it. Your very hard tap may register as a double
tap some of the time and then the letter would get typed.
Go into an edit field and turn the rotor to Typing Mode, then make sure it's
set to the typing style you prefer, you switch between the typing modes by
flicking up or down with one finer when the rotor is on typing mode. After you
have it where you want it make sure to turn the rotor back to characters or
words because otherwise it gets changed again.

Regards,
Sieghard

 Hey guys,
I have no idea what is going on here, but this is a very concerning
problem. My iphone screen is not allowing me to type. It seems to
be all over the place. When i type a latter, i literally almost have
to bang on the screen with my finger in order for it to take. I'll
press a leter like i normally do, but i ahve to literally press it very hard.
Has anyone ever seen this before?
It is making the phone basicly useless at this point. Anyone ever
seen this before? It's very concerning.

Re: can't type on my iphone 5

2015-01-11 Thread Cheryl Homiak
Is there any possibility that typing mode has been changed from touch typing to
direct touch typing. I could see that doing it. Get in a text field and turn
your rotor to typing mode and see what you are on and change it if this is the
case. I think this only applies if you are running iOS8 and I am not sure I
have read everything in this thread so excuse the post if it is irrelevant or
redundant.

I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf.
I got crumpled wads of tear-stained paper
thrown in the trash!
Then God gave me a new heart and life:
His joy for my despairing tears!
And now, every day:
This I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the Lord
never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.

Re: can't type on my iphone 5

2015-01-11 Thread Donna
Have you cleared the app switcher and performed a hard reset of your phone, by
holding down the Home and Lock buttons at the same time? Have you changed
iPhone cases just before the problem started? Do you have zoom turned on?
Settings, General, Accessibility to check if zoom has been turned on.

If you have checked these, I'm out of ideas.

Subject: can't type on my iphone 5

 Hey guys,
I have no idea what is going on here, but this is a very concerning
problem. My iphone screen is not allowing me to type. It seems to be
all over the place. When i type a latter, i literally almost have to
bang on the screen with my finger in order for it to take. I'll press a
leter like i normally do, but i ahve to literally press it very hard.
Has anyone ever seen this before?
It is making the phone basicly useless at this point. Anyone ever seen
 this before? It's very concerning.

Re: can't type on my iphone 5

2015-01-11 Thread Alan Lemly
You haven't by chance enabled any third party keyboards such as Fleksy?

I tried the latest version of Fleksy the other day and noticed I was getting
very unpredictable results with input. I wasn't getting exactly what you're
seeing but things such as executing selected controls would not work and
default actions were affected. For example, the delete action became stuck on
my rotor and when I attempted to open a very important text message thread, the
thread was deleted.

Fortunately, I had backed up my phone about twenty minutes before loading the
Fleksy keyboard so I restored my phone to get my text message thread back and
doubt I'll ever try the Fleksy keyboard again.

Is there any possibility that typing mode has been changed from touch typing
to direct touch typing. I could see that doing it. Get in a text field and
turn your rotor to typing mode and see what you are on and change it if this
is the case. I think this only applies if you are running iOS8 and I am not
sure I have read everything in this thread so excuse the post if it is
 irrelevant or redundant.
