Go to Settings -> General -> Software Updates. If it says there are no
software updates, double tap on the Software Updates button to get your
iPhone to go ahead and check. If it still says no updates then wait a bit
and try again.soft

Re: iOS 7 on iPhone 4

2013-09-18 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Go to Settings -> General -> Software Updates. If it says there are no
software updates, double tap on the Software Updates button to get your
iPhone to go ahead and check. If it still says no updates then wait a
bit and try again.soft

Hi list,
I am having a problem installing IOS 7 on my Iphone 4.
I have IOS downloaded on my iphone and in settings it says one new item.
When I click on instal and accept the terms of use, it says something like
verifying and after a minute or two I get error saying that update is not
available at the moment.
Is there anything I could do about it?
Thank you for your help in advance.

Oh, good. iOS 6 runs pretty okay on my 4S here, although when going to
the home screen from an app, it often takes a few seconds for voice
over to read an icon that I touch. I'm a bit hyper fanatic about
closing apps periodically, so I don't think I'll have an issue where I
have say, 50 apps open all at once, or something.

Thanks,

RE: iOS 7 on iPhone 4

2013-09-18 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Jonathan,

I honestly can't say that it is sluggish on my 4S apart from boot up time
being about 10 seconds or so more and apps take just a half second or so
longer to open, but typing, swiping and other navigating I find is just as
good on my 4S as it was with iOS 6. I have been running iOS 7 Beta for about
a month and Gold Master (same as the public release) since last week so it's
not just a few hours of playing around with it, either.

Rob from the Today in iOS Podcast claims that running iOS 7 Beta on his old
iPhone 4 almost since the start was a good experience. Maybe if somebody
experiences sluggishness a factory restore might help.

Regards,

Sieghard

It's noticeably sluggish on a 4S, so I can only imagine it would be even
worse on a 4. I've seen mainstream reviews saying how unresponsive it is on
the 4, and that's without VO in the mix.

I have IOS downloaded on my iphone and in settings it says one new item.

Is there anything I could do about it?

Oh, good. iOS 6 runs pretty okay on my 4S here, although when going to
the home screen from an app, it often takes a few seconds for voice
over to read an icon that I touch. I'm a bit hyper fanatic about
closing apps periodically, so I don't think I'll have an issue where I
have say, 50 apps open all at once, or something.

Thanks,

I think that's just a matter of the servers being overloaded, both downloading
and verifying the update. The download took quite a while and my iPhone 4 took
an incredibly long time to actually install the update, but it's up and running
now. Make no mistake, it is slower, but new features like control center,
particularly the ease in switching between and closing apps works as
advertised. If you plan on upgrading to a 5s soon, I'd say it wouldn't hurt to
upgrade the 4 and play with the new features. If you're holding off on the
purchase for a while though, I'd think twice as I could easily see getting
frustrated by the lag.

Re: iOS 7 on iPhone 4

2013-09-18 Thread Alan Paganelli
I'm at 96 percent of the ios 7 download and I'm installing it on my iPhone
4. Sense I plan on getting the 5s asap, it will kind of give me a heads up.
That thing about it running slow on the iPhone 4 was based on a beta version
and not the final production version but as I say, it won't matter to me as
I'm going from the 4 to the 5s anyway. Yea I'm up to 97 percent downloaded.
The download size is almost 700 mb.

Oh, good. iOS 6 runs pretty okay on my 4S here, although when going to the
home screen from an app, it often takes a few seconds for voice over to read
an icon that I touch. I'm a bit hyper fanatic about closing apps
periodically, so I don't think I'll have an issue where I have say, 50 apps
open all at once, or something.

Thanks,

iOS 7 on iPhone 4

2013-09-18 Thread Jared
I currently have an iPhone 4 but plan on upgrading shortly. I've read about
sluggishness with iOS 7 on the iPhone 4 so am considering holding off
upgrading. I was wondering what people's experiences who ran prerelease
versions on a 4 were, or what experiences of people who do the upgrade on a
4 is today?
