RE: talking gallery

2014-02-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I only checked it out briefly, but I think it doesn't convert the pictures
into a video. However, I think the app still needs some work because when I
tried it Voiceover was routed to the earpiece as soon as you recorded your
description and it wouldn't come back on speaker unless you exited the app.

You also can access your voice labelled pictures only from inside the app. I
have not tried to see what happens if I email one of these pictures so I
can't tell you if the voice label will go along.

I assume it doesn't and is just somehow associated to the picture inside the
app. After all, I don't think you can add audio to a JPG file which is
probably why some of the other apps convert the JPG file into a video file
which allows for the voice label to be added and to be sent along. One thing
I think you should easily be able to do is post one of these "videos" on
Facebook since you can post videos to Facebook, isn't that correct? Then if
somebody clicks on it they just see the still image and hear the audio label
you recorded.

Sieghard

I have a question. I tried a couple of apps in the past that let you record
a message on a picture. However, I did not like them because what it did in
my camera roll was actually add a video to my camera roll. The video of
course was a still image of the picture I took but it was with the sound
recording of the description of the picture. I did not find this useful so,
if I wanted to send this picture to someone in all actuality I was sending a
video clip instead. So, for my question, does this app just make tiny videos
of the pictures so that when you actually want to use it as a picture, you
cannot do so because it is a video. For example, if I take a picture of my
kids and add an audio label, then can I text the photo to grandma or post it
to facebook from the app as a photo instead of a video?

If this app is as you described and allows me to use photos as photos and
not videos than I am going to have to check it out. :)

Thanks so much,

Christina

Hi Isaac,

This is not the apps problem, the app allows you to tag a photo and as far
as I am concerned that is perfect. If Apple made it possible to rename
photos I still wouldn't necessarily know what's in the photo and if I have a
folder on my PC with 100 photos from a holiday I still have to ask for
sighted help to maybe throw out the ones which aren't good and then ask what
is in the photo before I can rename it with a descriptive file name. Anyhow,
Talking Gallery allows you to take pictures right from the app and apply a
voice label right after you take the picture so basically this let's you add
a label at a time when you do know what's in the picture. If I take a
picture of something I know what I am taking a picture of hence I can give
it a voice label. If you import pictures from your camera roll then you just
have to ask for sighted help just as you would have to do if you labelled
the photos in any other way.

RE: talking gallery

2014-01-23 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Regards,
Sieghard

You're welcome and the only problem with this app is how are you supposed to
voice tag a photo if you can't see the photo?

RE: talking gallery

2014-01-23 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hello Isaac,

Thanks for mentioning the app. It seems to work OK, but I noticed on my
iPhone 5S that Voiceover gets routed to the earpiece and stays there as soon
as you start recording and also when you play back the recording. I think
the developer needs to fix this, I have to exit the app in order to get
Voiceover to come back on speaker.

Regards,
Sieghard
