4.0b4 kudos and requests.. and clipboard issues..
Hi all 4.0b4 from win-win and from lin-win is VERY fast. bravo. low resource utilization! Well Done! That dynamic desktop resizing is REally Cool! Countless times have i wished that'd work but was Denied :), but now it works Great! Again, OutStanding! However, server side "lock screen upon disconnect" functionality and client side "scaling" are sorely missed in my neck of the woods. The clipboard transfer problem is a version incompatibility. a 4.0 client will not send/recieve clipboard data to a 3.3.x server. It appears to work between a lin client 4.0b4 and a win server 4.0b4 tho, but the two missing functions above keep me from doing a network wide install of 4.0b4 :( other than that, great job! -- Yours, Charles T. [suse 8, KDE 3.1.3, vnc 4.0b4] clipboard woes...
Hi again, I have a SuSE 8 machine running 4.0b4 client in X 4.20 and KDE 3.1.3 (from KDE). The server is a windows 2000 pro machine with either server 3.3.7 as or 4.0(b4?). neither server version makes a difference, although 4.0b4 does go a LOT faster! This happens on a suse 9 x0vncserver 4.0b4 server as well.. The issue is that clipboard passing sometimes happens from the 2000 box to the suse box but not from the suse box to the 2000 box. what am i doing wrong? the settings for that functionality are turned on on both ends in the configuration. what was the syntax for the F8 menu item for "send local > remote" manually? If i put it into the .Xresources, am i going to have to put in all the other items (basiucally rebuilding the menu from scratch)? -- Yours, Charles T. [vncviewer 4.0b4 linux] paste ip/domain name into vnc server blank
Hi all Another issue with the beta version is that the Conection Details dialog, VNC Server blank does not accept clipboard data. I have a script set up that tells me the ip of the windows host i am connecting to then launches vncviewer. I used to be able to select the ip and then paste it into the VNC Server blank. no longer workie. this is not a BIG issue like my earlier trouble with the F8 menu, but its something for the community to possibly fix.. necessity breeds ingenuity.. Old Script #!/bin/bash echo -n "when querying 0025745160-JOAN, i recieved "; echo `nmblookup 0025745160-JOAN |grep -v tdb|grep -v querying` vncviewer -shared -bgr233 -encodings "hextile" New script #!/bin/bash vnc `nmblookup -S 0025745160-JOAN |grep -i looking|sed s/Looking\ up\ status\ of\ //` Now to find out how to give a password to vncviewer on the command line... any ideas? example - $ vncviewer 192.168.0.1 password=deadheadjoe -- Yours, Charles T. [suse 8 | vncviewer] F8 Not working...
Hi All! I have 4.0b4, compiled from source, on SuSE linux 8.0. I am having trouble with the F8 menu not showing up... i tried doing a manual modification of the .Xresources file to put in a custom menu (i used the sample), and it did not work in 4.0b4, but worked in 3.3.7. I also tried manually specifying different F-keys, no luck there either. any ideas? -- Yours, Charles T.
