[Voyage-linux] Best way to install local deb packages in the customization framework

2008-09-19 Thread Sean

Hi,

Thanks for all your hard work, Voyage is really great!

I'm using the customization framework to automate Voyage customizations.
I have some local deb packages that I would like to install. They are
kernel modules right now, but later I want to do application packages.

What is the best way to install these? I see the kernel.conf file, and
looking at the voyage-custom.sh script, it looks like I can just add my
kernel modules to MODULE_DEB and put them in the files directory.

Would I specify the kernel modules like this?

MODULE_DEB="\
   module1.deb module2.deb module3.deb \
   module4.deb module5.deb \
   "

How would I go about installing the application packages? It seems like
I could put them in MODULES_DEB, but that seems like the wrong place
semantically.

Any thoughts?

Sean

Re: [Voyage-linux] Problem with HDD on Alix2c2 with Voyage Linux

2008-09-19 Thread Magnus Persson
Hi,

I've tried all combinations of these to GRUB at boot, but no difference :/

When I boot the hdd on a notebook dmesg says "using PIO mode 4, Ultra DMA mode
2"
But when it fails in voyage it says "using PIO mode 4, DMA mode 2" (then it
downgrades).
However, I've tested to use Ultra DMA with TinyBIOS when Alix2c2 boots, but
without any success.

Any other ideas? Does anyone know if someone actually managed to add an IDE
2.5" HDD on an alix board?

Hi,

Try appending each of two kernel parameters at grub prompt to test:

1. all_generic_ide
2. ide=nodma

And report to the list which one work in your case. Thanks.

Punky

It is absolutely safe, as soon as it is a good mirror (I've seen mirrors
that are not synced correctly some times - missing or corrupt packages). I
use the debian mirror of Greece, since I am located in Greece.

[Voyage-linux] mirror for ftp.hk.debian.org

2008-09-19 Thread Jens Werner

Hello all,

I experience some problems with ftp.hk.debian.org. I can only download
with about 2000 to 5000 B/s thus waiting and waiting and waiting for
every single small package I want to install, e.g. waiting about 40
minutes to install pppoe.

I noticed it is this mirror from /etc/apt/sources.list:

deb http://ftp.hk.debian.org/debian etch main

Is it safe to replace this mirror with any debian mirror out there? It
seems to be just a normal debian mirror offering the etch distribution.
Or are there any voyage-specific packages so that I will break up
something when using, for example,

deb http://debian.tu-bs.de/debian/ etch main

?

Thanks in advance for any reply.
Jens
