Alternative to Rioxio Jam CD mastering/burning software

2002-07-12 Thread Mark Secker
I have given up on Jam from the start I've had problems with it
crashing no mater how the computer was configured, what OS version,
what extensions, what burner, what format the files were in.

After near on 15 crashes last night trying to master a CD I trashed
it and then this morning noticed there was a patch on Version
Tracker so reinstalled it and ran the new patch and it still crashes,
so threw the damn installer in the bin (that's the real physical CD
not a "CD image" in the bin)

ENOUGH!!! NO MORE OF THIS CRAP!!! It crashes 90% of the time (and
that's probably being generous)

(can you tell I was more than a little pissed off??)

Any body know of any software, Mac or PC, that has the functionality
of Jam with out the crashes, further more if they know of a program
that does all this and allows fancy stuff like putting audio in
track1's pre-track gap, has a proper track audio overlap mixer
(unlike Jam's presets), pitch/time adjust for individual tracks or
for even sections of a track? yeh yeh bit much I want the world on a
stick I know?

OK So what I really really want is an interactive DJ mixing style)
program (that doesn't need to run in real time that creates non
destructive edits then can burn to a CD or create a CD image for
burning later (I can put up with toast)

Hi All!

I thought everyone might enjoy this cartoon from Wired. Seems fitting with

Re: Ricoh Aficio Office Printer/Photocopier & Macs

2002-07-12 Thread crazy_ebot

Hi Darren,

My experience with Ricoh support for Macs has been patchy. I've got an Aficio
401 connected to the macs here in the office, but it wasn't without trouble.

Basically, the installer didn't work. In the end, I pulled the PPD files out of
the
installer and physically droppped them in the macs PPD folder - 'gives full
functionality. Following this method in OSX will give you similar
functionality,
minus (for some weird reason) the ability to adjust the output resolution. Go
figure.

Anyone know if 10.2 will assist/break this kind of solution?

Cheers,

Tobes.

Ricoh Aficio Office Printer/Photocopier & Macs

2002-07-12 Thread Darren Kam
Hi folks,

We have a Ricoh Aficio 700 here at work, but it refuses to talk to a Macintosh.
I have downloaded the Mac OS printer drivers (well, the PPD files) from Ricoh
but it just churns out garbage.

I am led to believe that this printer won't print because it doesn't have the
Adobe Postscript 3 option installed. Is there any way a Macintosh (either in OS
9 or X) can print to a PCL5e/PCL6 beast such as the Ricoh Aficio 700? (The
Ricoh is on the network with a specified IP)

(I was hoping to somehow find a way to print to it without having to get the
Postscript option installed - it runs at 70ppm!!)

Cheers,
Darren.
