I stupidly fried my Handspring through Palm Desktop 4, so be wary of this software (yes, I know, Handspring don't recommend using PD4, but I am sick of classic!). Seeya Rod!
Palm Sync & OS-X
My recent problem that I posted regarding problems with my Palm IIIX and Palm Sync under OS-10.2 seems to have fixed itself? I tried re-starting when I had the problem with no success but it seems what it needed was a good night's sleep because it worked as per usual this morning... after being switched off over night... Palm Sync & 10.2
Has anyone else had a problem with using Palm Sync since upgrading to 10.2 ?... I am using a Palm IIIx and have had no problems for quite a while using older versions of System 10... I have just tried to Sync using my recently installed 10.2 and it does nothing other than tell me it could not connect and to check my settings which I have and they appear to be OK... (I am using Palm Desktop 4)... on a G4/867/384 I have checked for any updates to Palm software wince OS-10.2 but there appears to be nothing newer that Palm Desktop 4. I am not keen on scrapping things and starting again as when I have tried this approach in the past it has caused me nightmares, cold sweats and sleepless nights... I understand just enough about all of this to be a danger to myself... Any ideas would be much appreciated... Re: Word processor for OX10.2 ?
You have already discounted using AppleWorks 6.2? This is native for OS X and can read & write Messy Orifice files. PeterSW "Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum viditur." scrounging for old systems
Hi everyone, Shay posted earlier for me regarding old macs. I have been successful in obtaining a few imac 266s, they come with OS8.1 and I am interested in upgrading them to at least OS9. Does anyone have any old version of OS9 they may wish to contribute to our laboratory (we need five). thanks Dave David Chandler WAIMR QEII Medical Centre Nedlands Western Australia 6009 Tel: + 61 8 9346 1518 Fax: + 61 8 93461818
U/S floppy drives
I am on the scrounge for some clapped out 3 1/2" floppy drives destined for the bin. I want to salvage the motors and other bits from the guts to build a small robot with the kids. Other U/S stuff with small low voltage motors, sensors etc could be useful too. Can anyone help. Re: Mac - Windoze
Hi all I give up!!! For the last week I've been trying to connect a windoze machine 1000 Mhz, XP. with my laptop G3, 400Mhz, 384Meg ram, OSX 10.2. WITHOUT SUCCESS. Everyone tells me it's easy, in fact my brother did it easily with his setup. I've tried mirroring his settings without success. The only difference is that I am on ADSL through iinet whereas he is on dialup with iinet. Can someone please help me?? At a rough guess I would expect that iinet is blocking the SMB ports on ADSL connections as a security feature to prevent the computer aware 'crackers' preying on the computer naive folks who have their windows machines sharing their whole hard disk out to the world. This is much more of a problem with ADSL because the machines are on-line for much longer than with modem connections.
