Re: System works and OS10.3

2004-03-12 Thread Peder Kristensen
Bill,

It sounds like your SystemWorks CD has an old version of OS X, hence you
can't boot from the CD on the newer PB and iMac's. What to do, well you
should contact Symantec's Customer Service and request a replacement CD,
which has been updated with a later version of OS X. However, it should
install OK, but make sure you run Live Update to get latest version of the
apps.

Cheers,
Peder

DSL Modem

2004-03-12 Thread Edward Arrowsmith
I just switched ISPs from iiNET to Westnet. I now can't cionnect
using the network utility. Can't find a PPPoE server is the message.

Apple support ran through the procedure and it worked momentarily but
when I try to connect again its a no go.

Westnet tech support no little about OS X - 5 seconds one support
person said they had on óne of these things'

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Thank you

RE: convert wmv to quicktime(how)

2004-03-12 Thread Oldham, Toby

It'd be nice to see the same compression & playback done on a Mac to see if
the platform affects the quicktime performance. It wouldn't surprise me to
see improvements as quicktime leans on OS X for assistance.

Those results aren't pretty though. Mm.

T.

P.S. Bart, I've also been looking at conversion software between windows
media and quicktime for a mate ... I think a commercial solution is Cleaner
Pro, but it's primarily used for streaming video, and hasn't been updated in
a while apparently, so I'm not sure what OSX support is like.

Speaking of commercial solutions, anyone know if Final Cut pro or FC Express
compress wmv? What about Adobe Premiere (on PC)?

Acrobat plug in

2004-03-12 Thread Ken Woods
Hi all,

I have a problem the answer to which is probably very simple, but it escapes
me at the moment.

I am clicking on a link on a web page, a table of contents that is a pdf
file with hyperlinks to other parts of the document to be exact, which
should open up in the web browser using the acrobat plug-in. However it
insists on down loading and opening up in acrobat itself (not the reader),
which means that as a table of contents with hyperlinks to other parts of
the document it is useless.

How do I change this so it will open in the browser?

I am running 10.3.2 , acrobat 5 & safari 1.2

Thanks in advance

Ken...

So that's where that voice came from! I always wondered if they just
synth'ed their own voice or used a mechanical one. Way to go 'Fred'!

Whoa Dobin !

note the conditional clause.. I'm making a supposition, a
hypothetical even, simply as an aside to emphasise the remote
isolation from any other market be it international or domestic that
exists in Perth that have to be factored in to pricing issues.

my personal opinions of Perth are not important but it would probably
be something along the lines of half a million SAAB/Volvo/Audi
driving investment property owners sitting at various Dome "cafes"
chanting as their daily mantra Radiohead's "Fitter Happier" (which
brings us back On Topic as "Fitter Happier" was recorded using a
Macintosh "singing" via speak text function using the voice "Fred")

Apple 600e 4X CD burner with SCSI cables, manual and Toast 3.5.6.

Umax 610S Flat-bed scanner; '98 model; power supply connector and

Both worked well with a G3 when last used. Must go together. $20. No
guarantees or support.
