Rob, are you asking if there are HD video cameras available for hire? If so
there are two places I know of (off the top of my head). Reply off list and
I'll pass on details.

Cheers,
Tobes.

DISCONNECTION PROBLEM WITH OSX MAIL

2004-07-28 Thread Mike MOORE

Hi all

I'm having problems with Mail 1.3(v606) - it receives mail fine but
continually disconnects me whenever I try and send mail with
attachments.

The internet connection disconnects and takes forever to actually
disconnect - sometimes 4-5 minutes.

I get a message saying the disconnection has occurred because other
side is not responding - notwithstanding the flashing send/receive
'lights' in Internet Connect when the disconnection occurs.

I have tried iinot's support and they claim it is nothing they are
doing at their end, and suggest that it is a telephone line problem.

Similarly Telstra are claiming they have tested the line and it is
okay, and therefore it must be the internet provider.

Before I starting getting really ugly with the two parties who are each
claim it is the others doing I thought that I best first check to see
if others have had this problem and if so how they established what the
real cause was.

Hi Mike,

Before I starting getting really ugly with the two parties who are
each claim it is the others doing I thought that I best first check to
see if others have had this problem and if so how they established
 what the real cause was.

I assume that if you are prepared to get really ugly with iiNet and/or
Telstra that you have done everything possible from your end to prove
that it is not something on your mac that is causing the problem.

I assume that you have -
1) Tried a different email program such as Eudora, Outlook Express,
Outlook or Netscape mail.

2) Performed a Software Update
3) Turned off Prompt every x minutes to maintain connection and
Disconnect if idle for x minutes

If you have done the above, then I would try the following to see if it
is Telstra or iiNet's fault.

Telstra: Take your mac to a friend's house and use their phone line and
see if it makes any difference.

iiNet: Try using a friend's dialup account with another ISP to see if
that makes any difference.

Re: DISCONNECTION PROBLEM WITH OSX MAIL

2004-07-28 Thread Wendy Austin Thomas Oswin
Mike, I had this problem some time ago but with subsequent OS and
software upgrades and a move to ADSL, I no longer suffer it. My Mail
version is 1.3.8 (v618), perhaps you could upgrade to this. Also, if
you are on a dial up, try dropping your modem back to v34, I sometimes
found it more stable. I also found shutting down the Mail programme
and restarting it whilst connected helped with sending attachments.
Changing Email programmes didn't seem to help either as I had the same
problem with Entourage.

I do remember how frustrating it was when this happened so I hope you
can resolve it soon.

Re: Keyboard for G4

2004-07-28 Thread Martin Hill
Ken, we have recently bought a Belkin Wireless keyboard and wireless optical
mouse from Harvey Norman's for $59 and also the Microsoft Basic Wireless
Keyboard and mouse for $85 which both perform very well on the Mac - all the
extra multimedia keys work on the MS keyboard under OS X with the MS
software which makes the extra expense worth it.

For these prices you might as well go new and have the added bonus of
wireless and optical wheelie mice into the bargain. (Begone cursed
one-button mouse!)

Won't perform as one would expect!
Has anyone a cheap keyboard out there?
