Had the same problem as yourself, I am running OS X 10.3.5.
Repairing permissions did not solve it so I ran Cocktail 3.4.9 and
went to the Pilot tab and ticked all the tasks that are listed,
once it was completed and the system restarted all was well again.

wondering if anyone knows what the next step should be (system
reinstall - or can you somehow replace individual programs)?

 Thanks

Just plugged the js string in again on a few more pages and it
**does** return the info.

Thanks. :-)
The pages I was querying yesterday were returning a blank js drop-down
(I love the way the js announcements all hang down discreetly from the
menu bar btw) - which made me think Safari wasn't passing it on.
Just chance they were all without the info anyway.
I've been resisting getting Firefix because I want to make sure I
**really** need anything not in the mac bundle.I've been a Mozilla
user since around Phoenix 0.5 and am very pleased to leave all the
message boards and bug reports behind me for a while :-)

Does anyone have the time to show me the command for showing the
'last modified' details of a web page while using Safari?
I used a javascript:alert string in the address window of Firefox
for such info when I ran it on the xp box.

Great to hear such sentiment!

Keyboard Shortcut

2004-10-01 Thread Peter Sealy
Has anyone been able to write a Keyboard Shortcut using System
Prefs>Keyboard & Mouse>Keyboard Shortcuts? I click on the plus sign to
make a new shortcut, select an application or All Applications, write
the Menu Title exactly but no keystroke will be accepted in the
Keyboard Shortcut box. Doesn't matter which application I try, or All,
whether the application is running or not, whether the Turn On Full
Keyboard Access is checked or not, and which keystroke, nothing will be
accepted in that box.

Obviously I am doing something wrong. Any ideas?

Try here for some advice .
I have not had the problem you describe but it has been several times
discussed on the Apple Support Discussion Boards and the advice offered
in that web site has been recommended. You have not identified which
version of 10.3 you are running but if it is pre-10.3.5 I would
recommend an update to the latest as I think that does resolve problems
with the Help Viewer. If you still can not fix it contact me and I have
a couple more solutions which I have saved which may assist.
