If the next iBook models come with similar functionality, I might have
to make good my long-standing claim that I'll buy a mac laptop the day
that they have a decent built-in mouse.

Yes download version 2.4 the newer version 3.x is for CS2, both
versions come with DNG converter handy little App. Digital Negative
an archival format for Raw that Adobe has developed and hence are
pushing, interesting concept???

I suppose you could try 3 see how it goes run into issues just put
the old one back in I have used on occasions when certain cameras are
not supported although these days I use GraphicConverterX for digital
camera work and most of digital workflow and acquisition.

Another interesting article about Raw Format.. I suspect most
companies are utilising his code.

from what I can see it's only part of CSII. I downloaded the import
plugins from Adobe but they didn't work CS (not surprising as they
said they wouldn't)

Best I found for free, was that Graphics Converter X and the latest
versions of Preview iPhoto will allow you to import RAW's then
export them as TIFF (in the first two cases) or as JPEG in all three
cases.

HA I must have seen that page more than a few times but red the
instructions and assumed that it was, as they say in the web page and
the PDF in the download, the Windows version

Problem with Quicktime Player 7

2005-08-03 Thread Rob Phillips

Can anyone suggest a solution to this problem?

I have a bunch of QTVR movies that I occasionally demonstrate to
people. With my new system install, I now have QT 7.0. My QTVRs do
not display in QT 7.0. The display window is present, but it is
completely transparent. I can't reinstall QT6.5, because the
installer recognises that I have a newer version installed.

I wish I hadn't had my machine rebuilt!

Rob, if you're on OS X 10.3.9, you still have an option to reinstall
6.5.2:

Not sure what to do atm for those Tiger users with similar issues

Re: Problem with Quicktime Player 7

2005-08-03 Thread Martin Hill
G'day Rob,
My old QTVRs from 2000 and earlier are all working under QT 7. Any QTVRs in
particular?

Have you tried running the old Quicktime 6 player application? You can do
that even with QT 7 installed if you run the old QT 6 Player off a different
volume I have read. Haven't tried it yet myself though.

I haven't tried the QT 6 reinstaller either.

Cache space

2005-08-03 Thread Severin Crisp
I have been plagued by vanishing disk space with no obvious answer
but have found where a good big chunk has been going.
Photoshop CS2 caches Camera Raw information for each picture read
iand this escapes normal cache cleaning processes. Photoshop hangs
on to it indefinitely. My Nikkon .NEF camera raw files each result
in a 6.3MB entry so a few hundred photos really chews into the disk
space.

The cache is located at:-
useryou/Library/caches/AdobeCameraRaw

I can find no detrimental effects of junking these cached files.

Spinning beach ball of insanity

2005-08-03 Thread Edward Arrowsmith
Friend has a 1.25 G4 768 RAM. Under 10.3.8 suffered interminable
spinning beach ball. Installed 10.4.2, spinning beach ball better but
still occurs when switching between apps. SBB only appears in top right
corner near menu bar. Switched RAM, no joy. Force quit won't work, must
turn off at wall then restart. Runs OK until need to switch apps.

Friend is about to lose abundant sanity. Please help!
