Re: Icon
Hi, Ronni, There seem to be a few icons that this doesn't work on (maybe important 'core' icons?). I changed the HD icon on my G4 desktop machine, but try as I might, I can't change the HD icon on the PowerBook. Re: Icon
Hi Pat, I have changed the HD icon on all my previous computers, iMacs, iBooks, PowerBook, MacMini my latest MacBook Pro with no problems using the instructions I posted to WAMUG. Are you sure when you go to edit paste the copied icon onto your HD icon, that you have selected the little 'MacHD' icon at the top of the 'Get Info' window first. You cannot paste until it is selected. Cheers, Ronni On 07/10/2007, at 6:29 PM, Pat Scott wrote: Hi, Ronni, There seem to be a few icons that this doesn't work on (maybe important 'core' icons?). Hi Pat, Also check your permissions on the drive for which you can't change the icon. Highlight your HD - then File Get Info under 'Ownership Permissions' it should be 'Read Write'. Morning All Also make sure you have admin privileges for said computer, and that you are logged in as that user. But all icons are modifiable. Follow Ronnies instructions making sure source highlighted before cmd +c, then highlight intended and cmd+v. Cheers! `Rob... recovering a file
Hi, I have just made a big mistake trashed an avi file I really wanted to keep. Is there any way I can recover this file before I shut down my Mac? I am using a G4 with Tiger 10.4.10 Thanks Faye -- The WA Macintosh User Group Mailing List -- Archives - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml Guidelines - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml Unsubscribe - mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: recovering a file
First , Stop using the Mac ... SHUT IT DOWN .. until you get the answer to that question. While you are using it ... information is still being recorded to your drive by cache files and all sorts of things. WHICH MAY OVER WRITE THE FILEyou wish to retrieve . Later you can start the Mac up in Target disk mode with it coupled to another Mac . The other Mac can then be used to run an application to look for your file . There are applications that can do it Photo rescue will find photo's . I'm not sure about avi files Good luck Bob On 08/10/2007, at 12:17 PM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi, I have just made a big mistake trashed an avi file I really wanted to keep. re recovering a file
Please forgive ignore the last request. In my panic at the thought of losing the file I did not spend some time searching. The file had not been thrown away after all. It was an important video for me to archive. I must learn to back up these files more often. Safari
I've just received a text message from my daughter needing help. Message: I down loaded safari 3 last night, installed, restarted and now it won't start properly. I just get a screen with safari symbol. She has a mac mini - don't know which version she is running and I can't find out until later tonight. Has anybody got ideas, solutions to solve her dilemma? All help and advice much appreciated.
