Re: office 2004

2007-12-13 Thread Neil Houghton
But note that MS do not say it is Leopard compatible - for that you have to
wait till Office 2008 is released. Having said that, people are running it -
some OK & some reporting some problems - browse the various forums for more
info (I don't remember which specific ones I saw this in).

Re: Embedded images in Mail ??

2007-12-13 Thread Allen
Don't know Ronni. I just see it from my side where all attachments on
incoming and outgoing emails now sit as icons neatly at the bottom of
the msg. I got fed up with them opening up all the time even when I
didn't want to see them.

I assumed recipients were getting the same as I am seeing, but I'm
not sure, as they all have different programmes

How does the mail plugin 'Mail Attachments Iconizer' control how
the Recipient's email application is setup to view the attachment?

Have you tried starting up in Verbose mode (restart while holding
Comand-V)? This will show you the startup process using a Unix text
screen. Not only can this show you where the startup process is
stalling, it can sometimes actually cure the problem.

The other trick is to start up in Single User mode (instead of Cmd-V,
use Cmd-S). The main opportunity this gives you is to run an fsck
session, which will correct any disk or directory problems (more
effective than DiskWarrior in my experience).

Hello Stephen,

Are you attaching a file using the Attach button on the toolbar or by
choosing File > Attach File (Command-Shift-A), and selecting the 'Send
Windows Friendly Attachments' ?
Mail offers no convenient way to toggle Windows friendliness for
attachments added by drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste.

Do you have the correct file extension e.g.. .pdf & .jpg?

To be certain that a graphic does not appear inline, you must compress
the file before attaching it.
Under Tiger, the easiest way to compress a file (in Windows-friendly
Zip format) is to select the file in the Finder and choose File >
Create Archive of filename.

Under Leopard, in Finder choose File > Compress.

Also add your attachments at the 'end' of your email, even after a
signature if you use one.

Ronni

HI Jon ,

The G5 Macs sometimes have liquid cooling in them which leaks and
destroys the mother board ... OUCH !

As far as I know the 1.6Ghz and most of the 1.8GHz are OK , but if
you have a Dual 1.8GHz you could be in trouble .

There is a lot of info here about the coolant leak problem :

Just in case it's a software problem you could try to start up from
your Tiger Installer disk .

And of course if you drop the side of the case and look at the CPU
you might see something.
There is a lever at the back you need to lift up for the case side to
open down.

Good Luck
