Scanners and Elements
Hi Wamuggers Can anyone tell me if Elements 5 works in Leopard? Also since my Canon 9900F scanner does not now operate in Leopard and no drivers available has anyone experience of Canon scanner 8800F Regards John -- The WA Macintosh User Group Mailing List -- Archives - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml Guidelines - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml Unsubscribe - mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
emac media tray problem
Hi all Bought an emac/keyboard/mouse as is, with no system installed, from the PLC sale. It was demonstrated as running OK before I bought it. Have the discs to install OSX but have a problem as I can't open the CD/DVD tray. Keyboard is plugged into one of the emac's USB ports. The emac turns on displays the mac face/flashing question mark indicating no system available, but the media eject button on the keyboard does not open the media tray as it should. Power is reaching the keyboard as I have the mouse plugged into a keyboard USB port the mouse appears to be live (ie red light shining underneath). Am I missing something simple here? Or is it likely that either the keyboard or the media tray is non-functional? *Very* frustrating as I was all geared up to make the leap from my old strawberry imac OS9! Alternatively try booting the machine with the option key held down and then see if you can use the eject key. Also on the eMac if you can get your fingernail into the top crack of the drive you can pull the external door down to access the drive inside which might then reveal the internal eject button or the paperclip manual eject hole... Hi Bob and WAMUGgers Here are a couple of responses I sent Severin off-list: On 11 Jan 2008, at 8:55pm, Robert Howells wrote: On 11/01/2008, at 3:14 PM, Reg Whitely wrote: Getting it into the iMac is the challenge, if it's one of the round coloured ones. Maybe your T4 guy will do it for you, when you're not looking. It's not a pretty sight or sound. I think Rod may have done my last one when I was at Chapman Valley. We've got a ruby slot loader here at home with a similar affliction. We usually keep it running and on auto date/time server. If it's turned off or power fails, when the system restarts it automatically logs into the time server and self corrects - usually! ___ then This may help http://www.neoview.com/powerlogix/imac/010/ although I read somewhere else during this search that it can be replaced through the memory cover / slot with long pointy tools and long nosed pliers... here it is http://www.dssw.co.uk/sleepcentre/threads/replacing_battery_in_g3_imac_dv.html Have fun crabbing Reg -- The WA Macintosh User Group Mailing List -- Archives - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml Guidelines - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml Unsubscribe - mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Also do you get the chimes as it tries to start up, shortly after you turn it on ! If you get no joy, turn off , then switch on again while holding down Apple + option + P + R altogether , and hold until after you hear a second set of chimes. Re: Scanners and Elements
Hi John Elements 5 is Windows only. The latest currently available Mac version is Elements 4 - however Adobe has announced the release of Elements 6 for the Mac (they are skipping over 5!) due in March. Adobe are offering free shipping for pre-orders and if you use the Macworld coupon code Macworld08 you can get 10% off. The coupon is only valid till 31 Jan though. Adobe also offer upgrade pricing from previous Elements versions. I've just ordered the upgrade for $95 - less the 10% coupon so that's $85.49. Adobe say they won't actually debit your card till the product ships, so I thought that was fair enough. Note: it looks as though you are getting it even cheaper right up to the final checkout when they add in the GST!! HTH Cheers Neil -- Neil R.
