cach.waf

2008-01-13 Thread bill parker

Hi Wamuggers

I am trying to persuade somebody that Firefox is safer than IE as
web browser. I hear this from others, but not sure why.

However, I do notice that for any usage of IE (the last one
available for MAC users), I always see a 10MB file cache.waf.
I notice a slowing of performance as well. OS 10.4.11 and early
same.

With Firefox I never get anything of any size when I run 'iclean.

What is cache.waf up to?

Bill

2008-01-13 Thread Clyde McLennan

Hi Bill,
In very simple terms, the problem with IE is that it is too
clever (same may used a different word) for its own good. It will
let sites download things (active X's etc) onto your computer that
provide a way for mischievous operators to get at you computer.
Firefox, on the other hand does not have that ability, and so is a
lot safer.

There maybe better explanations and deeper reasons why Firefox is
preferable - but simply put - nasty users cannot get at your system
so easily.

   Cheers ... Clyde

[For Sale] Sony Multiscan 500PS 21' Trinitron

2008-01-13 Thread Kane Pittard

Hi all

I've selling my old but still excellent Sony 21' Trinitron Multiscan
500PS monitor, it's a CRT model from 1999 but still has an excellent
picture

and is in good condition.

Below is an old Macuser review of the monitor:
http://macuser.pcpro.co.uk/macuser/reviews/15678/sony-multiscan-500ps.html

It can be pickup from the Quinns Rock area or on arrangement I can
bring it into work at UWA if that is more convenient.

Offers welcome.

Cheers

Kane
