myob
hi everyone Is there someone who is using on Myob's the same company file on more than one computer who are not linked (wireless or not wireless).I need to use Myob on 2 seperate computers who are in different locations.Myob told me that everytime I change something on one machine =doing backup and updating other computer.moving data back and forth , which is kind of ok.,the only thing is , if I forget to do it which is likely to happenthere will be a mess. Is there a way around this?Or is the option to use Myob on VMfusionware and use a windowsversion of Myob. Re: myob
Martin, rather than have the MYOB data file on two separate machines you could either have the data file/s on a mobile external hard drive or on your Dot Mac/MobileMe account. You may even be able to have it on your iPhone? Re: myob
Hi Martin You could try using Dropbox http://www.getdropbox.com/ It will let you synchronise your files across multiple computers. Looks good so far only been using it for a week But it should allow you to send the database file to two different Macs keeping both files up to date at all times Kyle -- The WA Macintosh User Group Mailing List -- Archives - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml Guidelines - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml Unsubscribe - mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: myob
Hi Martin, I'm using MYOBs AccountEdge on different computers. I just bring the data file across to the machine I'm currently working on - sometimes even email it to myself, and it works as normal. I'm not trying to sync it, of course, I just make sure I have the one with the latest updates with me. It could be on an external hard drive. I'm not sure what the person meant when they said there 'will be a mess' - that just sounds silly. I've been doing this for years. The data file doesn't get corrupted by moving it to another machine. cheers, Susan. Re: myob
Martin, If you had the same file open from two computers at the same time, and made changes .. maybe there would be problems. But as Susan says, if you makes changes on one computer, close it and make changes on another, there shouldn't be an issue. Our MYOB file is used on our Mac, goes to the book keeper for a Windows holiday, comes back updated and back into service on our computer again. No problems, the same file works on Windows and Mac. But trying to use MYOB files in 'multi user' mode would be a different matter. Glenn. 2008/9/24 Susan [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Hi Martin, I'm using MYOBs AccountEdge on different computers. myob (answer to susan and Glen)
tjhanks for the answers What would happen if I would change one companyfile in the workshop in timebilling change the companyfile in sales or purchases in the office and try to bring both companyfiles on the same level --- don'y know howis this then possible. Re: myob (answer to susan and Glen)
Hi Martin, that would involve trying to merge them, and that's what would result in a mess - unless the file is on a central server which is accessible by the workshop and the office, and IS NOT BEING USED AT THE SAME TIME IN DIFFERENT PLACES. In other words, the same file needs to be used in both cases, it won't work if they are using different files and then try to merge them. cheers, Susan. Re: myobanswer to Glenn
Hi Glen is multi user mode that I do changes on different computers- at a different or same time - without updating the other one?So that basically both companyfiles need updating in different locations in their companyfile? Re: I Cal
Hi Ronni, Did the last step altho it still won't work the warning pops up all the time now: The Application I Cal has unexpectedly quit Mac OSX other bla blah.clicjk try again... It popped up when I opened an external drive, popped up when I opened I Photo...quite weird? Any more ideas or perhaps you can tell me how to reload I Cal Ronni? Thanks, Ken From: Ronda Brown [EMAIL PROTECTED] Reply-To: WAMUG Mailing List wamug@wamug.org.au Date: Sat, 20 Sep 2008 06:23:57 +0800 To: WAMUG Mailing List wamug@wamug.org.au Subject: Re: I Cal On 18/09/2008, at 9:45 PM, Ken Jackson wrote: Hi Ronni, iCal quitting can be caused by damaged preferences files. You could try this: These instructions are for iCal in Tiger NOT Leopard (Leopard iCal has a file different structure). Make a backup of your iCal calendars (iCal File menu Back up iCal) The problem is I Cal doesn't open I just get the message that it quit, before it opens? Got a lot of settings I really don't want to lose too... 1. Quit iCal and all open programs So I can't follow this procedure, I guess anew version may be the only way but I can't find a version for 10.4.11 a) Move these files in Home/Library/Preferences to the Trash: com.apple.iCal.alarmsCache.plist com.apple.iCal.AlarmScheduler.plist com.apple.iCal.helper.plist com.apple.iCal.plist 2. Launch iCal Tried this, still won't open? Where to from here? Thanks Ronni, Best, Ken If that doesn't help, then the Apple Sync Services database may be damaged. Try replacing it: a) Make sure that nothing is syncing (Spanning Sync,.Mac, iSync) b) Move this folder to the trash: Home/Library/Application Support/ SyncServices c) Restart your computer 3. Open iCal and give it a few minutes to write out the new database. Ken, Did you do this part above ... (move the SyncServices folder to the trash etc) ... and restart your computer? If you have been syncing iCal and there is an event that clashes it can cause iCal to Quit. What had you just done or were doing when iCal Quit wouldn't reopen? Have you tried if iCal will open in another User Account on your Computer? If iCal application opens fine in another user account you know for sure it is something wrong in your preferences, not the actual iCal Application.
