Re: IDVD question

2008-11-20 Thread Ronda Brown

Hi Andrew, Bob & Paul,

I am presuming that Andrew is using iMovie '08 & iDVD '08.
If so this Apple document is more up to date with burning a DVD with a
TV safe area.

Cheers,
Ronni

Bob,

So on your TV screen that you are watching the DVD on, do you watch
digital TV or just analogue TV .

I've tried both, including an old CRT TV, and a new 60 inch Plasma.
I've

also tried it on different DVD players.

If you watch digital TV what is the picture like by comparison
with an

analogue station ??

It seems quite similar.

Hope this helps.

WAMUG BBQ 2008

2008-11-20 Thread Peter Hinchliffe
Just a reminder to everyone that the Annual WAMUG Christmas Barbecue
will be held at 12:00 noon on Sunday, 7th December 2008 in the grounds
of the old Heathcote Hospital. Click the following link to locate the
venue in Google Maps:

This year we are calling for a few volunteers to help with the
preparation, as some of our committee members who would normally help
with this will not able to attend this year.

All meat, condiments and soft drinks will be provided, but please let
us know by Friday, 28 November if you intend to come along so we can
get an idea of numbers. This will help immensely in estimating
quantities. Entry is free to all WAMUG members, but a gold-coin
donation by non-members would be welcome.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Yes, that's the intention. Unfortunately, there's no guarantee of the
exact location, as there's no booking system: it's first come, best
dressed. We'll do our best to secure the same location.

FW: Safari and FireFox quitting

2008-11-20 Thread J Philippe Chaperon
Dear WAMUG'ers,

Just in case someone was to come across the same problem I had. I seem to
have found the solution although I cannot explain why things are now working
properly.

I somehow started to suspect that there was a problem with Keychain. Using
Keychain First Aid it found about 3 or 4 errors and successfully fixed them.
Since the repair neither Safari nor FireFox have quit 'unexpectedly'!!

Hope this can be of help to someone.

Good night all,

Philippe C

Subject: Safari and FireFox quitting

Dear WAMUG'ers,

I'm running OS X 10.3.9 on a G5 1.8Ghz DP with 2.5GB Ram. For some weeks now
FireFox 2.0.0.18 has been quitting suddenly, almost always at the time it is
either retrieving mail or deleting mail. Unfortunately Safari v1.3.2 has
started to do exactly the same thing, quitting unexpectedly.

I have tried reinstalling FireFox but that did not help the least. I
religiously run the maintenance scripts using MacJanitor or Yasu, repair
permission and lately zapped the PRAM besides throwing all the .plist I
could find for those two applications.

I do not have this problem when using my laptop running OS X 10.5.5 via the
same modem.

The problem is related only to the two browsers - mail or entourage and
other non-internet applications are behaving without problems.

Any suggestions as to what I could do? I'd love to keep using 10.3.9,
although I do have 10.5.5, if possible.

Many thanks & good night all,

Philippe Chaperon

If I save these movies to movies files they are not
cropped. Also if I play them on DVD player on my Mac they are OK.

Am I doing something stupid, or is this a bug?
