Re: Telstra iPhone data usage
Hi Andrew Do you have email set up? If so, have you gone and changed the checking of it from Push to Manual. If it's set to Push, then it's checking it all the time!! You can check in:- Settings - Mail, Contacts, Calendars. I generally have Fetch New Data set to Off. Then click on Fetch New Data. Change this to Manually. Then click on Advanced. Then change each account to Manually. This means email won't check, until you actually open up Mail to look at it. This stops it from checking all the time, and can help with data usage. Try that and see how it goes (if you're using Mail of course). If not, ignore everything I said :O) Kind Regards Daniel On 4/10/10 5:39 PM, Andrew Schox and...@perthfootankle.com.au wrote: Hi all, I have had a Telstra iPhone 4 for five days, and got a message today saying I'd used 93% of my 1.5GB data plan. Please can someone help (hoping it's some really dumb fix I should have been aware of!) Hi Blitto, Genius playlists are based off a single song you select. Genius mixes are (likely) based on the Genre and other stuff of all songs in your library. Apple has not explained how Genius decides anything. Genius Mixes The Genius Mixes feature searches your iTunes library to find songs that go great together, then organizes them into mixes you’ll love. These mixes are like channels programmed entirely with your music. Under Genius, click Genius Mixes. You’ll see Genius Mixes that have been created for you. Click one to play. Rearrange and rename the mixes you want to keep, and delete the ones you don’t. Genius Playlists Just select a song, click the Genius button, and iTunes makes a playlist of songs from your library that go great together. You decide how many songs appear in your Genius playlist — 25, 50, or 100. Refresh your Genius playlist to get new songs. Or save your Genius playlist so you always have it. http://www.apple.com/itunes/features/ Cheers, Ronni 17 MacBook Pro Intel Core i7 2.66GHz / 4GB / 1067 MHz DDR3 / 500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200rpm OS X 10.6.3 Snow Leopard Windows 7 Ultimate (under sufferance) -- The WA Macintosh User Group Mailing List -- Archives - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml Guidelines - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml Unsubscribe - mailto:wamug-unsubscr...@wamug.org.au

Windows Snow Leopard
I have a cd of which about 7 out of 100 tracks play on my Apple. The tracks are wav format. I have latest version of windows media player, flip for mac, QuickTime pro, QuickTime 7 and Perian installed. OS is 10.6.4. I have had trouble getting the cd to play on Windows computers, but have succeeded on two that have Windows 7 installed. I'm reluctant to install Windows OS and software on the hard drive of my 17 MacBook Pro. Can it be installed on an external hard-drive, and (assuming the cd works) will I be able to listen to it by putting it in the dvd slot on my MacBook and using Windows on the external drive? Re: Telstra iPhone data usage
Telstra charges the first month of usage after signing up on a pro-rata basis so if your data contract began only a few days before the monthly billing period ends, Telstra only gives you a few days worth of data quota. This means even though you may have 1.5GB for a whole month, if you sign up 3 days before the end of the monthly billing period, you'd actually only have 150MBs total available for those 3 days! However, all you have to do is ring Telstra and they will cancel any overage charges and you'll be fine in the future as this only applies in the first month after signing up. This happened to both my wife and a friend who both got overage charges of $50 or more! -Mart Sent from my iPhone On 04/10/2010, at 5:39 PM, Andrew Schox and...@perthfootankle.com.au wrote: Hi all, I have had a Telstra iPhone 4 for five days, and got a message today saying I'd used 93% of my 1.5GB data plan. My data usage has been probably less than what I usually used on Optus as I have frequently been accessing the net via WiFi. Has anybody else experienced similar issues. I can't believe I've used that much data in 5 days. I'll have to organise to spend a few hours tomorrow getting transferred from one department to another at Telstra's friendly phone support service... Hi Ronni, Hi Michael, I wouldn't think it would be a commercial music CD with 100 wav files on it ;o) I would think that someone has created this on a (Windows?) PC - and maybe they used some strange encoding parameters. Michael, You say you can play it only on a couple of Windows PCs that have Windows 7 installed - will Itunes for Windows, running on these Windows 7 machines import the tracks? Either way, if Mark's suggestion of VLC doesn't work (or if it's an easier route for your situation) I would think your best bet would be to get the CD in one of the Windows 7 machines that plays it OK and then re-encode it in a standard format to suit you - mp3 or whatever you prefer.
