Scan & Print

2010-10-24 Thread Curtis Peter

Hi everyone
This is not important, so don't go to any trouble to answer. It's just been
driving me up the wall to solve it!
I've been trying to copy a DVD cover to make a backup. Using VueScan I scan the
cover but when it prints it's smaller than the original I've tried all
sorts of settings without success.
The actual size of the cover give or take is 183mm x 273mm but comes out at
175mm x 262mm. The original size isn't a proper paper size that I can ascertain
so can't be set in any way.
I did try using Image Capture but the computer has ceased seeing my Epson
Perfection 610, it used to once but doesn't now.
I know by trial and error I could increase the size when printing which would
solve the actual problem of the cover, or it doesn't really matter if it's a
bit smaller, but that doesn't solve my curiosity.
If you have an answer or suggestion, I'd appreciate it.
Regards
Peter

Hi Andrew,

we use Skype for interstate hookups in produced recording sessions &
i believe you can keep the history of calls you make.
Also with a Skype to go number you can call land lines free (after
your $20 sub for 3 months).

It's worth having a close look at.

Andrew,

If you install software on your computer you may find it hard to share
the data within the association - you could look at various
software-as-a-service options.
Highrise (highrisehq.com) is a good one.

Re: Pdf's from word X

2010-10-24 Thread Ronda Brown
Hi Chris,

I'm not assisting on WAMUG mailing list at the present due to a medical problem
I'm dealing with … but …

Have you tried rotating just the landscape pages of the PDF in Preview
application?

You can rotate individual pages in a PDF document using Preview Application.
You can use Tools -> Rotate Left (or Rotate Right) to flip the pages around,
but the problem with that command is that it flips all the pages, not just the
one you’d like to turn. You can also use the toolbar’s Rotate Left and Rotate
Right buttons—you might have to use View -> Customise Toolbar to add them if
you haven’t done so already.
However, they also rotate the entire document.

So here’s how to make Preview rotate just the currently-displayed page in your
PDF:

1. Hold down the Option key before selecting Rotate Left or Rotate Right
(either the toolbar buttons or the menu commands).

2. With the Option key held down, only the current page will rotate. (If you
save the document, it will be saved with the single page rotated.)

This behaviour isn’t documented in Preview’s help, which is too bad as it’s
quite useful.

If you are not sure how to combine PDFs into one PDF:

In Preview Application:

1. Open the first page / PDF and then View/Sidebar/Show Sidebar.

2. Drag all files / pages to the sidebar in preview.

3. Select all the Side Bar files you want in the pdf.

4. Go to File > Print SELECTED file (under the regular print command)
and then save as PDF.

costs.

If you have Pages it will import and convert the document to portrait mode and
thus export them to one pdf document. You may need to do a little adjustment.

Pdf's from word X

2010-10-24 Thread Chris Burton

Hi Wamuggers

I am in a quandary about how to convert my reports (which are in Word
a4 portrait format but also contain a few landscape pages with tables)
to a single pdf.
At the moment word prints (Print, Save as pdf) about 3 or 4 separate
pdf files and I need it be in one pdf.
I have also tried Adobe distiller (from CS2) but that does not convert
due to an error that I dont understand.

Do I need to convert the landscape pages to portrait? The explanation
maybe that the landscape pages are also section breaks in the word
document. Or is it possible to combine the seperate pdf files into one
single pdf file.

I have spent way too much time on trying to work this out, so I
thought someone in the mac group maybe able to offer some advice, for
which I will be very grateful indeed.

Kindest regards

Chris
