i†une Library Disappeared
Dear WAMUG, I used to be around before in the 1990s thought I have learnt sufficiently enough to be on my own. That would be furthest from the truth. One can never claim to know it all to stand alone. There are always that require more heads. So here I am. Knowledge sharing is a two-way traffic I hope to be able to contribute as well. I am using Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 with an external drive of 1,000GB. I had a whole library of iTune songs music built collected over a period of years. My problem started when I installed the new iLife 2011 because the capacity of my iPhoto was running low. Without warning all my favourites tunes in the iTune disappeared. I searched everywhere without any avail. What could have happened? Anyone please help advise. Hi Laura, On 18/03/2012, at 12:20 PM, Laura Webb el...@iinet.net.au wrote: Good afternoon all Just to conclude the Missing Notes thread. The process of setting up my new iPad has restored the missing notes to where they should be. Where they went and why remains a mystery. No great mystery as to where your Notes went and why ;-) When I was helping you solve the missing notes on your iPad I kept asking you questions about how you had your iCloud setup on your iPad as I was sure it was not setup correctly, which we now know iCloud was not setup correctly on your iPad. As I mentioned early in our emails: The two iCloud Services you CAN’T Turn ON without a .me.com or .mac.com iCloud Account are Mail NOTES. Notes are ‘maintained’ by Mail, they are part of Mail, even though on the iPad, Notes might appear to you to be a separate service or App. Now you have setup a @me.com account your Notes have reappeared from iCloud and appear in Notes on your iPad as they should. To see how this can happen with Notes in iCloud. 1.Settings Mail, Contacts,Calendars Then at the top of the right-hand screen you have Accounts At the top of Accounts is your @me.com email address 2.Press your iCloud email address, then a screen appears with all items Mail,Calendars, reminders,Bookmarks, Notes etc, these items can be turned ON or OFF. If you switch Notes to OFF, you lose all your stored Notes. If you switch Notes to ON again, the lost Notes appear. I hope this helps explain iCloud Notes sync to you. Read the links that I sent to you about iCloud and how to setup iCloud on your iPad in my previous emails. If you have any questions post back to WAMUG and we will help you. Cheers, Ronni Sent from Ronni's iPad Many thanks to Ronni for her usual great support and also for Peter's input. In the process I have learned a lot about iCloud but still much to understand. Re: Can audio stream be captured via any browsers for Mac ?
Steven, if you are using FireFox then DownloadHelper http://www.downloadhelper.net/manual.php, a free Extension, will allow you to capture and convert audio, or video, or both, from any website. On 16/03/2012, at 10:34 PM, Steven Knowles wrote: I discovered recently that video can be easily captured from within Safari or Firefox, however I'd now like to capture a live audio stream, as in that put out by ABC radio via its websites. If not from within a browser, any freeware suggestions? It's just a once-only requirement for a couple of minutes, so purchasing an application will be a bit of a waste. Using OSX 10.7.3. Re: Missing Notes now found
Hi Ronni Thanks for your latest advice.. After reading your instructions it is obvious that there is still something wrong with my iCloud set up. For the time being I need to call halt. I have a new iPad, less than 48 hours old. I want to get to know it and feel comfortable with it before erasing data on my now old iPad. Having skipped from the original iPad to the current version, there are lots of new things to learn. Whatever the iCloud problem is, it is not preventing me from using my new iPad on a day to day basis. I am happy to have the missing notes back (they still do not appear on the now old iPad). So for the moment, I hope you will understand my need for time out at least for a little while. Re: iTune Library Disappeared
Hi Paul, Depending on the preferences you had set in iTunes, the audio files can be in a number of locations. For instance when importing a file to your iTunes library you can choose to leave the audio file where it is, outside of the iTunes media directory. So do a spotlight search for any .mp3 or .aac files to see if anything shows up. Of course if you ripped your songs from CD's you can rip then anew, and if you purchased songs from the iTunes store you can download the again at no cost. When you have this settled you should definitely implement a backup regimen or subscribe to iTunes Match. Navigate to paul/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Music and see if it is populated with directories that have the name of groups and artists. As an important aside, do you have a backup of any sort in place? Cheers, Carlo On 18/03/2012, at 15:28 , Paul Chong wrote: Hi Carlo, thanks for your prompt kind attention. Hi Ronni Are you sure you want to keep going with this? :) Sent from my iPad On 18/03/2012, at 2:24 PM, Ronda Brown ro...@mac.com wrote: Hi Laura, On 18/03/2012, at 12:20 PM, Laura Webb el...@iinet.net.au wrote: Good afternoon all Just to conclude the Missing Notes thread. Not so. They are still missing on my old iPad. They only reappeared on the new iPad after the initial set up. At the moment I have two iPads up and running, both with iCloud. To see how this can happen with Notes in iCloud. 1.Settings Mail, Contacts,Calendars Then at the top of the right-hand screen you have Accounts At the top of Accounts is your @me.com email address At the top of the RH screen I have 2.Press your iCloud email address, then a screen appears with all items Mail,Calendars, reminders,Bookmarks, Notes etc, these items can be turned ON or OFF. Hi Ronni Sorry about this email. Please ignore. It was one I started writing yesterday but thought it had been deleted. Not sure how it has suddenly appeared.
