Re: Annual Subscription Update

2015-01-10 Thread Daniel Kerr
Hi all

Some people may still get an "auto-reply" that says something like "you can't
post to this list".
It's not that you can't post to the WAMUG list, it's referring to the internal
committee list we have (which is where the membership address forwards to).
We still get the advice to say it's paid, so no stress there, as I deal with
all the bounce messages, spam, junk etc etc that generates a bounce message.
I spent an hour or so today sorting some of it out, but there's still a few
"teething issues".

But yes, we'll get your payment advice and yes you're still subscribed to
WAMUG.
We won't just kick you off :)) We're nice like that. We give it a bit of time
before changing moderation flags to non-post. :)) So all is good.

I'll be relooking at some of it tonight when home again.

But hopefully all will be much easier down the track.

Kind regards
Daniel

Hi Robin,

Hopefully that glitch has now been fixed. (See Daniel’s emails) Can you try
again?
When it comes to all things technical I willingly defer to the 'higher
powers,’ in this case Daniel.

Thanks for the notice and for your patience.

Cheers,

Maureen

Re: Brother printer not connecting to iMac Yosemite

2015-01-10 Thread Ronni Brown
Hi Philippe,

It's good to hear your printer problem is solved. Yes, I was fairly sure you
would need to do Steps 3 and 4 to solve the issue.
I also should have mentioned to make sure you disconnect the Printer if you
found you needed to install a new Printer Driver.

Ah no, its not my first success for 2015 on WAMUG. -actually my 5th I think ;-)
Stephen Chape 'CIJScannerRegister' 4/01/2015 - 'David Noel 'DVD burner..',
then Tony Francis 'single key repeat..' 07/01/2015, and John Thompson 'Safari
Problem'.. 08/01/2015 ;-)

Cheers,
Ronni

Re: Brother printer not connecting to iMac Yosemite

2015-01-10 Thread Philippe Chaperon
Hi Ronni,

In brief SUCCESS! and merci beaucoup.

I have had to go to your Steps 3 and 4 after I had un-installed the Brother
Printer Driver, then downloaded the driver as per your link, then re-installed
making sure the printer was not connected to the iMac … and true to form your
instructions made things work correctly.

Having had bought many Brother mono laser printers, I swear by them and have
recommended them to family & friends, I should have remembered one important
thing. When installing the Driver software, the USB cable between the printer
and iMac must be disconnected . I originally forgot about this and your
instructions reminded me of this when you mentioned to try Instruction 1 -
Power OFF & Unplug the power cable. This set my memory synapses going!

I suppose that having reset the printing system is what sorted my problem. When
I think that I was about to go to Office Works to purchase another printer
thinking the printer, which was unused for close to 12 months, had failed. Now,
‘she who must be obeyed’ will be happy ...

Looks like this might be your first success for 2015 on the WAMUG list and many
thanks.

Best regards to you and all WAMUG’gers,
