Re: Messages on ipad

2016-06-24 Thread Peter Crisp
I followed some Apple Support instructions on this problem and it lead me to
"verify email addresses associated with your Apple ID". In going down that
path, I had to log into the Apple ID managing space. So I entered my
Username/password and it told me I need to update my password as it is not
secure enough. Same ID i’ve had for ~8 years I think. I’ve cancelled out of
that as I have this Apple ID as a convenient password in a number of other
areas as well but my current Apple ID password meets the minimum requirements
(8 or more characters, must have at least one number, must have upper and lower
case) so why do I need to update it?

In any case I believe the email address for my daughters iPad is verified as it
has worked successfully in the past - i.e. the Delivery notification occurs and
it is received genuinely.

I don’t want to update my AppleID password by a long way. So many devices and
computers (13 in all!) to go around and get them all reconfigured it’s a
nightmare to just think about it.

Re: Messages on ipad

2016-06-24 Thread Peter Crisp
Thanks for this Ronni, that is bizarre, in the "You can be reached by imessage
at" section, her email address is ticked and that is all that is ticked (she
has no phone number). At this same screen there is no section "Start new
conversations from" at all.

I probably need to do a restore to factory settings. Seems the app is not right
on the iPad.

By contrast my own iPad has the appropriate selections ticked in both the "You
can be reached by imessage at" and "Start new conversations from" sections.

Regards

Messages on ipad

2016-06-24 Thread Peter Crisp
I'm having a problem getting messages to properly behave on my daughter's iPad
mini. It has worked well in the past.

I can send her a message from my iPhone (goes blue) and it is received but does
not show as delivered on my iPhone. If sending a message from her iPad, it
seems to process as though sent but is not received by me or others who have
fully operational messages functionality.

I've done a reset, sign out of icloud and back in, checked date and time, find
my iPhone off and back on. She is the only one in my family who doesn't have an
iPhone so it is not connected to a mobile number but I don't think that matters.

Any other clues?

Hi Tony,

We have been warning members for years on the evils of MacKeeper
Just do a search on WAMUG mailing list archives for MacKeeper to see how bad it
is.
