2016-07-07 Thread Ronda Brown
You should now be ok then.
In iTunes 12.4.1.6 if you have Movies selected (not Music or TV shows in top
menu bar) you will then see in the Sidebar: Recently added, Movies, Genes, Home
Videos.

I have heaps of movies imported into iTunes for watching on AppleTV4.
I also have PLEX Media Server on my MBP and ATV4 which holds all my Movies I
prefer using it as it doesn't have the limitations of the built-in Apple TV
apps and iTunes. Also PLEX Movies Library viewing interface is better.

PLEX is a media player and management system that serves videos, audio files,
and photos to your AppleTV. It offers features far beyond what Apple provides,
such as:
Playing video in multiple formats
Move versatile storage management than iTunes
Automatic metadata management

Cheers,
Ronni (who has NO Power so NO Wi-Fi Network but using my iPhone Telco data plan
to hotspot my computer & iPad to send these emails)

Re: iTunes problem

2016-07-07 Thread Ronni Brown
Hi Severin,

Check you have Home Sharing enabled in iTunes, iTunes is open, and your
computer is ON.

View Videos with Home Sharing

Once you’ve enabled Home Sharing, to access your iTunes movies from the Apple
TV, open the Computers app on the Home screen.
If you see an error message, be sure that the computer is on and has iTunes open

Computers shows videos in three categories:
Movies, TV Shows, and Home Videos. Simply select a category, and then select
the title you want to watch.
You can sort within a category by name or genre, or view only unwatched titles

Cheers,
Ronni

On your Desktop - Click on Finder > Preferences in Menu Bar top left
Select General - Show these items on the desktop
Select ✔ all Hard disks, External disks, CDs, DVDs, and iPods, Connected servers

Also still in Finder Preferences - check Sidebar & Advanced that your settings
are as you want.

Deleting the Desktop Preference file to fix your other problem, can cause some
settings to change back to default.

Re: All sent mail has vanished from Mail

2016-07-07 Thread Michael Hawkins
Good morning Ronni,

I took the suggested steps, but the missing sent mail was not reinstated. Mail
sent since the day on which the sent mailbox emptied itself is there, but the
sent mail that had gone missing was not reinstated.

One other thing has happened, and that is that the hard-drive icon does not
show up on the desktop. It was there when I shut down the computer last night,
but didn't appear when I started the computer up this morning. Repairing
permissions and restarting did not reinstate the icon.

Cheers,

Michael

Re: All sent mail has vanished from Mail

2016-07-07 Thread Ronni Brown
Hi Michael,

OK, so now I know that Rebuilding the Sent Mailbox in Yosemite Mail version 8.2
(2104) did not solve the problem.
You need to recreate the envelope index from scratch. Explanation and details
how below:
--
If your envelope index—a special database that Mail uses to track which
messages are in which mailboxes—and the other files that Mail uses to catalog
messages become damaged, Mail may exhibit any of several symptoms, including:

• Missing messages

• Incorrect message counts, in which the number of unread messages shown next
to the mailbox name in the sidebar differs from the number of unread messages
you see inside the mailbox

• An empty mailbox, even though you know it contains messages

• Failure to move messages into a mailbox (manually or using rules)

If you suspect that a mailbox contains errors, the standard cure-all is to
rebuild it. To do this, select the mailbox (or mailboxes, by holding down the
Shift key and clicking them) and choose Mailbox > Rebuild.

If that doesn’t solve the problem, quit Mail, navigate to ~/Library/
Mail/V2/MailData and drag the files Envelope Index, Envelope Index- shm, and
Envelope Index-wal to the Trash.

Then Open Mail again, it’ll tell you that you need to “import” all your
messages (just as it may have done when you upgraded from Mavericks to
Yosemite).
Let it do so—it’s recreating your envelope index from scratch, but don’t worry,
you won’t lose any messages, labels, message status, or other data— and when it
finishes, your mailboxes should behave correctly.

Let us know if this solves the problem please.

WAMUG please note - I will be without Power from 8AM until 5PM today, so no
Internet Network connection.
I will be using hotspot from my iPhone data for essential client email.
I’m hoping the power will come back sooner than 5PM!!

Cheers,
Ronni

Hello Ronni,

I'm pleased (and relieved) to say that steps 1 to 3 in your email worked a
treat. Thank you,

Michael

Re: "Permanently erase deleted messages when 1 month old" not working

2016-07-07 Thread Ronni Brown
Ok Stephen,

Check the settings for your POP Bigpond Mail Account the Advanced tab.
What is it set for in removing messages from the server once downloaded?

1. Open Mail
2. Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts
3. Select your POP Bigpond Mail Account
4.Select Mailbox - Behaviors Button and check Trash you have ticked “Move
deleted messages to the Trash Mailbox” and “permanently erase deleted messages
when: One Week Old”

Select - Advanced Button and check that you have ticked all three options:
Automatically detect and maintain account settings
Include when automatically checking for new messages
Remove copy from server after retrieving a message: After one week

Cheers,
Ronni
