Re: Find iPhone

2018-01-07 Thread Michael Hawkins
Thank you all. The phone I lost then found is an SE, purchased recently to
replace my beloved iPhone 6 which disappeared during a trip to Bunnings to buy
wood chips for mulch which, as it turned out, weren’t needed but that’s a
different story. The lessons for me from the Bunnings Episode were always make
sure the phone has a decent amount of charge in it before stepping out the
door, and always make sure the phone is nestled deep within your pocket - I
think mine popped out when I was hefting bags of woodchip mulch.

I have to admit that the SE has been great. It is more compact and seems in
some ways more powerful than the 6 was.

Cheers,

Michael.

Free to good home: MacPro 1,1

2018-01-07 Thread Tim Law
Good evening.

I have a mid 2007 MacPro 1,1 going free to good home.

It’s all functional and would come with a dongle and generic screen and
keyboard and mouse.

It’s loaded with 5MB of RAM
Two Dual processors - four core - 2.66 Ghz
One disk is installed. It has four internal drive bays

It currently has been tweaked to run El Capitan 10.11.4. No tweaks exist to
push it further.
The consequences of this upgrade are the none of the USB outputs, or the DVD
drive, function. They DO accept a keyboard and mouse. There is no wifi card, so
the only way to connect this machine to a network is via Ethernet cable - or
install and remove disks from the drive bays.

I assume they would all return to normal functioning if you loaded Mac OS X
10.7.5 (Lion) which I believe is the normal latest version.
Also as part of the upgrade, I needed to purchase a new graphics card at some
cost. It’s an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB and has some value still and you
can drive two large monitors with this good quality card.

I imagine that loaded with an SSD drive, this would return to being quite a
serviceable machine.

I’m in Carine.

Regards

Tim
