Hi Tony.
I have used an application called Picture Rescue 2.
It has helped me recover lost photo files a couple of times.

Re: big sur

2020-12-22 Thread Stephen Chape
I updated a few days after release (which is not like me, I usually wait about
a month).
Got a little impatient this time, and I guess the hype got to me too.

Anyway I have had no issues and I really like it.
PS: The Mac start up chime is back .. very nostalgic !

The only issue I did have is that SuperDuper backup is dragging it’s feet.
I have communicated with them via email and they don’t seem very concerned.
Their response was like “ well just be patient or use Time Machine while you
wait"
It will not yet run with Big Sur.

But that’s OK .. I have switched to Carbon Copy Cloner and finding that a more
user friendly interface.
I only use this for my monthly backup that resides in my safe.
My main backup is Time Machine (but just in case everything gets stolen, I
always have the safe backup).

Mac Mail confused me a little at first because I seemed to have a lot more
additional folders than before.
And even some missing.
But now I have sorted them out all is fine there too.

Other than that … VERY PLEASED !

I have been holding off on this upgrade, waiting on some positive reports. All
looked good this morning so, with nothing better to do, I decided now was the
time.

Thankfully, I still have my 13” mid- 2012 MacBook pro running Mojave as the
late 2014 Mac mini is still trying to complete the upgrade to Big Sur. It has
been ove two hours now and still not up and running so I guess it is just a
waiting game.

A very Merry Christmas and happy and safe New Year to one and all.

Hi Rosemary and Peter,

I have updated my 21” iMac 3 days ago, after having done a full bootable copy
of the HD, and so far so good. I must admit that I have only used a few

Don’t see much in the way of problems out there in the wild. I’ll probably
update during the Christmas break. Never did do Catalina, and the problem is
now that the latest versions of Pages, Numbers and Keynote require 10.15 or
later. This will happen with increasing frequency with other apps, especially
as they get updated to work with the M1 processor, so I guess it’s time to move
on anyway.
