[WAMUG] Apple TV Remote

2024-05-23 Thread Marcus Harris via WAMUG
Hi members,
I would like to use my iPhone 15 iOS 17.4.1
as an Apple TV remote.
The online instruction is
Settings
Control Centre
View Apple TV Remote
Tap on the icon to reveal the remote screen.
I must have misread or misinterpreted that because tapping on the icon does
nothing.
I then looked for an Apple TV remote app.. can’t see that either.
Can anyone provide a work around to reveal the remote screen. Please

Re: [WAMUG] Which Email address?

2023-11-02 Thread Marcus Harris via WAMUG
As I understand the situation, IINET or WESTNET are the internet service
providers and that won’t change.
One isn’t obliged to use @ iinet or @ westnet.
I haven’t used those addresses for several years and I’m happy with all the
apple addresses @me @ Mac @ iCloud.

[WAMUG] Problem with replyingto emails in Apple Mail

2023-02-21 Thread Marcus Harris via WAMUG
I have an issue with Mail.
When I reply to an email, the text will not type normally, Initially the
letters are bunched together, then instead of typing a letter, the next key
brings up a text box and then another key moves to the image shown below within
a box requesting "markup “
I can do a work round by typing within the signature and then cut and paste,
but it’s not one off and more than annoying.
Any solutions gratefully accepted.

Hi there. I bought a Macbook Pro 2013 Retina 13” in 2013 (late). It
has been and is still a reliable Macbook. It doesn’t get used for
much but I do need it. A few months back I noticed the keyboard area
beginning to bulge upwards and the keyboard alloy shell is deforming
upwards. It still is working fine. I keep it on power all the time
and rarely take it away from the power to use it for portability.
Bulge is becoming more pronounced over time.

My suspicion is the nearly 10 year old battery is expanding and
pushing up the chassis from beneath the keyboard. I see some online
DIY battery replacement procedures and I’ve done many other Macbook
Air, Pro batteries before - but the Retina seems more complex,
though not overly daunting for my relevant experience in doing these
tasks. I could give it a go.

Naturally I have backups all in order in the event of a disaster.

Has anyone here done a 2013 MBP Retina 13” battery change - or would
 Apple even touch it?

 Comments please.

 Thanks in advance

Re: [WAMUG] September's General Meeting

2022-09-19 Thread Marcus Harris via WAMUG
Thanks for the Information.
I cannot attend meetings because I am carer and needed during that time.
However I follow the queries submitted by members and I feel sure that the
respondents provide the answers /solutions benefiting all.
Well done to the dedicated committee.
Cheers
Marcus
