RE: Mac longevity?

2007-02-12 Thread Roger P Kortas
well how long is that string!!

we have had some iMacs fail after a week or two and we have had some
that have never been turned off in 3 years!!

I have a B&W G3 thats has been running 24/7 for 4 years.

This is not question that can be answered really, I have had brand
new G5's fail after an hour due to hard drive problems and others of
the same batch that have been fine since installed.

Regards Roger

Re: Windows/Mac issues...

Remote Desktop works fine if they give you access, but saying that
the port should already be open. You can get the current version of
version tracker.

What stops you moving to Macs?

Re: Ghost Image Mac CLone

2006-12-03 Thread Roger P Kortas
You make an image of your drive the way it is right now. When or if
you have to do a restore boot from your external drive that has the
image on it, use disktools to erase the internal drive and then do a
restore to that drive. The time it takes to restore depends on how
big the image is. For instance tonight I have just done 7 restores
of an image that is just under 9gb and these took about 15mins each
and these were from slow 4200 external firewire drives.

Hope that helps.
