Installation failure - Power Mac 7600/200
Greetings again Wamuggers Following your assistance with fax software, the same friend has asked me if I could post another request on his behalf - so here it is: I am trying to install System 7.6 onto my Power Mac 7600/200, from CD ROM. However, installation fails with an error message that System 7.6 does not support this computer and that the disc should be updated. Currently I have System 7.5.5 installed and functioning correctly on this computer. I also have a Power Mac 7200/90 on which System 7.6 has been installed from the same CD ROM as I am trying to install on the 7600/200. What is the solution? Hope you can help again Sue Oliver

With your two suggestions I'm in favour of the extension conflict. Suspect MSN Messenger which my daughter downloaded, since it causes other nuisance glitches. Thanks muchly andI do have fun - in a quiet way of course! Regards Sue Oliver

Re: sherlock search on web
Greetings Muggers Re the above - perhaps some of you may have seen page 29 in Tuesday's West: "Yahoo to search for paid listings". This may explain some of the issues we come across from time to time with this and other search engines. Happy reading Sue Oliver
Firewire and iMac 333?
Hi everyone We have an iMac333: OS 8.6 and a recently acquired digital video camera. Being novices and hearing/seeing the term 'Firewire' (not sure what it is even!!!) is it possible to connect an external Firewire drive to our iMac given the above specs? Won't be heartbroken if not - can do it the old way, rerecord onto tape and send by snail mail until we can upgrade our computer sometime! Ta muchly Sue and Bern Oliver
Netscape 6.1 back to Communicator
Greetings all I know in the past there have been lots of messages about dispensing with 6.1 but I've lost track of where they are and am in the process of changing back to an upgraded Communicator (4.79). Help please. This is the first time I've uninstalled anything!!: 1. How do I uninstall 6.1 - is it a matter of drag and drop to desk top? 2. If I do that what happens to all my addresses and saved messages in 6.1? I'm not an absolute novice but... have spent heaps of time today trying to work out Export and Import and in what order and so on and feeling sick from scrolling help menus (:-(. Looking forward to your shared expert knowledgethanks a bunch Sue Oliver
Re: Speaking of waiting...
Hi This problem sounds similar to one we had quite some time ago. OK so I'm a home user with one machine but anyway here goes. We have an iMac 333 with OS 8.6 The cure was installing the following firmware from Apple: 'CD Update 2.0'. This fixed the glitch. We received the update as a matter of course from Apple following purchase of our machine in late '99 but I believe it was also on their website. This may not be new to you of course but it's the only thing I can think of if your problem is 8.6 related. Coincidentally, installing this piece of fimrware also solved a then hiccup with our Epson 440 where the print preview appeared as a miniscule blotch in the preview window and no amount of resetting to deleting fit to page etc would work. No one I've spoken to could explain this bonus effect but it was a happy solution. Hope you solve problem soon Sue Oliver > > One of the 7300s has been suffering from frequent intermittent 20-30 > second pauses since the beginning of the year. Re: Macs & Viruses? - Comments pls
Greetings I use Virex 6.1 and as far as I know this seems to work successfully on my 1999 iMac 333, System 8.5, Appleworks 5 (about to be AWks 6). I too had a virus warning and clean up done by our ISP on one email recently - how great to think they're looking after us so well!. Sooz Virex and Norton Anti Virus are the mac virus utilities of choice. > > However, I find these utilities often slow everything to a crawl (waiting > for a Jaz disk to be scanned etc, ditto CDs) so I usually turn them off > after a while, and scan my HDs monthly, or when I see a new virus on the > warpath. > > I'd like to know other peoples experiences, as I tend to be less cautious > then most people. > > Cheers, Paul > > -- > > Paul S > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > From: Jon and/or Dot Price <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > Date: Sun, 09 Dec 2001 11:38:38 +0800 > > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > Subject: Macs & Viruses? > > > > Hello all. > > having had a couple of advices from our ISP this week regarding viruses > > being intercepted in our email, I had been wondering the situation regarding > > Macs and viruses? > > My "iMac for Dummies" suggests us to be almost completely immune, with > > suggestion of a simple adjustment to protect from the only one the author > > knew of.
