Changing the font etc in an Appleworks database field
Brilliant, Bob! (or maybe I'm just dim). I put my database into 'List' format, and by selecting half-a-dozen cells in one row, I was able to adjust the font as you suggested. It's not the complete answer - when I selected the whole of a row at the head and tried to do the same, Appleworks just stopped (no rotating circle). But the principle has been proved, I can work on from there. The interpretation I give to this is that there are numerous fields ... and a number of fields in that group in which you wish to change the Font ! If the interpretation is correct ... are you able to sort the fields so that those needing to be changed will appear in a row or a column ??? Re: Changing the font etc in an Appleworks database field
I wonder which version of Appleworks you are using, I have Appleworks6 on an intel Mac with OSX 4.9, All I do is put the database (you are using this rather than the spreadsheet mode?) into list format, select the column required (e.g. surname) by clicking on the heading, The whole column is then highlighted and the font or size can be selected rom the format. It's very easy so I can't understand the problem, As far as I remember this worked on all my earlier versions of Appleworks, Good luck, Dick Anderson On 28/05/2007, at 2:18 PM, David Noel wrote: Brilliant, Bob! Changing the font etc in an Appleworks database field
Hi Dick -- -- Thanks for your comment. I'm using Appleworks 10.2.9 and OS X 10.2.8 on an old G3. As you say, it isn't a hard problem in principle, and the procedure you outline works for me to a limited extent. -- Why it doesn't work at times is probably a combination of the older operating system version and the nature of the particular database, which has many chinese characters (which will necessarily often be in a different font to the english characters). I hope to trade up to a new computer and operating system later this year, and anticipate this will ease problems of the sort I sometimes have. Re: Changing the font etc in an Appleworks database field
David I went back to my database and realised that all I had done was to change all my surnames to Bold. I had not attempted to change the font. When I tried to change the font some cells changed but others didn't. I could change those that hadn't changed separately - not what you want to do with a large database. So maybe one can only play around with the Style. Bob might tweak out something from his store of goodies. Merv Thanks for the suggestion, Merv, but your procedure only resets the default for the data field, it doesn't change data existing in fields.
