Re: How to stop my email address from being public on WAMUG Mailing List Archives?
Hi Stuart, Your email address is not 'poached', won't be 'poached', unless you have answered a question that people are searching for using Google or another search engine. How people are finding mine is they do a search on 'Google' for a particular subject, one that I have answered or done a Tutorial on, and Google leads them to my message on the WAMUG Mailing list 'Archives'. Then when they click the Reply via email to name of the sender, a new email opens with my address … not WAMUG wamug@wamug.org.au On our WAMUG Mailing List, (not The Archives), when we reply it replies to WAMUG wamug@wamug.org.au, not the individual person. But,this does not happen on the Archives. Cheers, Ronni On 12/06/2010, at 9:25 AM, Stuart Breden wrote: Agree. Fortunately so far my address has not been poached by non-list users. G'day Ronni. I've just had a look at the archives. I didn't even know that ability existed - obviously I've never scrolled down that far. I agree with you in that it should not be there unless we want it or not at all. I can't offer any helpful solution but I'll bring it up at the committee meeting next week anyway. (I just tested an archive of mine and pressed the reply button and all my email addresses came up including my 'secret' one. I'm assuming it was only because I opened it on my iMac and it just added the extra addresses from Address Book in. What a helpful little iMac it is!!)
