Re: Intel Concerns I II
hat the HD Series cards have problems processing the graphics in some of our games. We are currently working diligently with Apple to get these issues resolved. Since none of our titles were ever tested or approved for play on The ATI 2400/2600 that are in the new Intel iMacs, we cannot support any of our games on these machines at this time. Apple did just release an Open GL update specifically for new Intel iMac with the ATI 2400/2600 in them. You can download it here: Tiger: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ imacsoftwareupdate12tiger.html If you have not done so, you can subscribe to our newsletter (https://www.aspyr.com/news/newsletter_signup), which is sent out via email on a monthly basis. This newsletter is where we announce new projects. We also have a project status page at our website that shows what is being worked on. With Apple constantly releasing new hardware it is impossible for us to develop games that are guaranteed to work on any future hardware configurations. With that in mind, it is a good idea to wait a couple of weeks before purchasing any new software for brand new machines. It is also a good idea to contact the software developer to see if there are any problems with any software you are considering purchasing for a brand new machine. Again, I assure you that we are working hard with Apple to get these issues worked out. Thanks for your patience. Have a nice day. If anyone else on the list is having problems with any of the Aspyr Games, this feedback from their tech support may explain what the current problem is. Since downloading the Open GL update, I have been successful in installing 'The Sims Life Stories'. I haven't yet had time to retry others, but at least now I have a better idea what might be going on - and it appears to be with the software development side (not necessarily my hardware). Although I have not yet emailed Feral about problems installing their games, I'm wondering if the issues might be similar. (I'll see whether the Open GL update makes any difference to them first). Again thanks to all. Regards Rosie On 27/12/2007, at 9:00 AM, Peter Hinchliffe wrote: ยจ On 24/12/2007, at 9:52 PM, Rosie Cable wrote: Hi Jude Thank you for your response. Intel Concerns I II
Hi fellow WAMUGgers Thank you for your emails in support of the issues that I am having with my computer. I thought I might offer some feedback on some of the suggestions that you have offered. 1. iStat Sensor Hi Neil and Bill Thank you for your response. By the sounds of it, the information that you have on your widget appears to be a little different from what I have to choose from. Please let me explain ... When iStat appeared as a widget, I did check the info button in the top right corner. When it turned around to the back of the settings, there was limited information to choose from. This is what options there are: Style (a drop down list which contains options for four different colours) Colour (a drop down list which has three options relating to temperature - celsius, fahrenheit and kelvin) Show or Hide Temperature (with a CPU checkbox (for either on or off) below it Show or Hide Fans (with the message 'no fan sensors found' below it - no checkboxes or options). The remaining options on this information panel, are buttons for 'Paypal' and 'Check for Updates'. That's it !!!. I did send an email to slayer, although I am not expecting a response in the short term - after all, it is the holiday season. 2. Mac/UB Games Hi Jude Thank you for your response. The games that I have tried to load are all Mac/Universal Binary games (I have never owned any windoze games), all bought within the past 12 months. The games that have failed to install due to the undetectable Intel Video Card, are predominantly simulation and strategy games, mostly from Aspyr and Feral. I have, however, been able to install a couple of the older games that work okay on my eMac, including Age of Empires II Gold Edition and Tropico 2. Hi Susan Thank you for your response. As noted above, all of the games that I have tried are up to date, and are Mac/Universal Binary. All are originals (no bootlegs) and theoretically, they should install, but ... I agree on your suggestion to take it back to the shop where it came from. Come the 14th January (when the shop reopens), I will be doing just that, in order to find out some answers (this is an expensive computer, and it took me a long time to save the money to buy it). The fan issue is still a bit of a worry. Last night when I was trying to install 'The Movies', the CoreDup Temp reading showed an average of 70-72 degrees celsius, and still no fans appeared to kick in. This occurred after midnight in a really cool room. Again, thanks to all for your support and suggestions . It/they are very much appreciated. It is possible that I may have bought that one dodgy unit which exists in every shipment. It wouldn't be the first time (brings back nostalgic memories of my 2nd mac - my lemon - the Performa 5200CD ...). No matter how frustrated I get, it is not enough to see me heading for the dark side. Thanks again to you all, and to WAMUG in general. Best wishes to all for a safe and happy Mac Christmas and a Mac of a New Year. Hi Rosie, if I was you I would delete the Istat you have, and down load Istat Pro v4.5 ( as a widget ) ( it's also free, but you can donate if you wish ) you ought then to do as I suggested earlier. Hope this makes your Christmas a little better for you ! Re: Intel Concerns I II
Hi Bill Thank You so much. I did as you suggested, and this time iStat Pro 4.5 includes all of the information that you and Paul had referred to earlier. I now realise that I had only downloaded the sensor widget (one part of the 'Pro' package), as opposed to the full widget package. This widget's great. Thanks again. Here's hoping you find special things from Santa in your stocking this morning. Have a good one.
