Makes it a little difficult to browse through the book before outlaying 
the cash though...

Bookstores tend to be much better for that.

On this topic pc world Mini Books have produced a booklet and CD on OS X
Cost is $13.95 and its available at newsagents
One of the sub headings on the booklet is
BUYING A PC SEE THE LATEST FROM APPLE FIRST!
