Re: Print to pdf problem - FIXED

2017-06-16 Thread Mike Murray
Re my earlier email (below).

The villain was a new brother printer!
Somehow it was over-riding the ‘print to pdf’ function and insisting that the
page size needed to be A4 or smaller.
Changing the preferred printer to one of my others now allows me to do as I’ve
always done.

Carry on, all’s well again.

Cheers
Mike

Print to pdf problem - has something changed?

2017-06-11 Thread Mike Murray
Hi muggers

For many years I’ve created large family tree charts in Reunion, using the page
setup function to specify the page size, then saved them as PDFs using the
Print/save as PDF function. Officeworks then happily prints the files direct
from the correctly sized PDF file.

Today for the first time I can’t do that…the print dialogue says ‘invalid page
size’ and the suggested page size is greyed out unless I tick the scale to size
box, then only shows page sizes that my attached printers will print. The
resulting PDF files are reduced to the printer files, which is no good (scaling
them up again gets all the shadowing wrong).

This seems to be a change in something…has anyone else had that problem? Is
there a fix?

iMac 27in, late 2013; Sierra 10.12.5

Cheers
Mike

Thanks Peter. I will try to keep that in what little mind I have for future
Adobe Reader updates (unfortunately, at the moment we have to keep using Adobe
Reader for Flash files).

When you install or update Adobe Reader, the option to make Reader the default
PDF viewer is turned on by default. Leaving this on (it's just a simple
checkbox) causes Reader to install the plugin. It is very easy to forget to
turn the option off before proceeding with the installation/update.

Thanks for the response Ronni.

I did try the saving/exporting in all the various ways you outlined but without
success. Your second email suggestion, to remove "/Library/Internet
Plug-Ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin” appears to be the answer as the offending file
has now been saved successfully sung Safari. Have no idea how that particular
plug-in managed to get into the system, obviously one of Adobe’s little tricks
to catch the unwary.

Another way I forgot to mention to try is:
Control-Click on the image of the PDF - Save Linked file to Downloads

Also check you don't have AdobePDFViewer.plugin
Look for the file:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin
and remove it.

Ok I am out of here now, have a job I must go to.

Safari PDF problem

2014-06-08 Thread John Thompson
I use electronic banking for most of my regular bills and transactions but
encounter a problem with a couple of government and banking departments.
Statements and accounts appear on screen but will not save or print to file as
a pdf. The saved attachment shows as a 0kb item with no data. The only option
I have at the moment is to access the site with Firefox (prefer to use Safari)
and then have no problem. What would be the problem with Safari?

Re: PDF Problem

2002-12-24 Thread Greg Pennefather
Peter

I regularly get sent invoices from MYOB in PDF. I find that the preview in
Entourage only displays a couple of lines (ie graphics lines, not text) and
that Preview does the same. If I open the document in Acrobat Reader all is
revealed. I just received my payslip in this fashion and, upon receiving
your email, checked the PDF version of the file - it is 1.2 which is Acrobat
v3 compatible and is probably the cause of the problem.

So, if you're using OS X and have Preview set as the app to view PDFs it may
be that Preview is not displaying it properly because it doesn't properly
support v1.2 and Acrobat will show you the true view of you document.

Worth a try.

Cheers and Merry Christmas to all

Greg

Hi Peter

Account Edge only supports "standard" fonts for this feature so you'll
probably find that it won't work until a later version of the software
(maybe/perhaps).

Unless you use one of their bog standard forms the email/fax feature
just doesn't work.
