Re: Canon MPC200 - Waste Ink Message

The manual to my Canon S520 mentions the waste ink tank but is not at
all helpful. It says:-

Under head cleaning -

Avoid excessive head cleaning as this wastes ink and my result in the
waste ink tank becoming full at an early stage.

Under waste ink tank is the following also not helpful item

The printer has a built in waste ink tank. Before the waste ink
tank becomes full contact a canon representative to have the waste ink
tank replaced. When the waste ink tank becomes completely full
printing will no longer be possible

From these I suspect it is not possible for the average user to
either empty or replace the waste ink tank.

Not very helpful I am afraid but may add to the general store of
useless knowledge.

Hi all

Our Canon MPC200 printer/scanner/fax/copier has started giving a

waste ink tank, or any reference in the manuals. Restarting the
printer doesn't change it.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks

Re: Canon MPC200 - Waste Ink Message

2008-11-23 Thread Edwards Cranston

Hi Warwick,

I had the same problem a couple of years ago with a Canon printer
which was about three years old. My tank became completely full and
was putting blotches on the printouts and eventually stopped working.
I took it to a Canon repairer and the cost to empty or replace the
tank was almost equivalent to the cost of new machine. I opted for
the latter and upgraded to a later model.

Regards,

Donna

2008-11-23 Thread Kyle Kreusch
Hi Warwick and All

As my dad has light duties at an office supplies shop Three days a
week I will have him ask one of the service technicians about it.

Let you know on Thursday

Is the printer still under warranty? As the tank replacement may be
covered under warranty but I would not hold my breath

I can guess you have used a lot of prints near 10,000 perhaps !

Most of the Inkjet printers actually count the number of prints and on
the assumption that
the printer needs a service after that many prints , they spit out a
messageor

stop printing .

If you can find a technical manual by using google to search the net
it is most likely to have an instruction on how to reset the counter .

While it says Waste Ink near full , it might well refer to something
other than a tank.
It could be some sort of blotter . This would preferably need washing
out or replacing.

Have fun

Bob
