Re: usb superdrive not loading discs

2017-07-26 Thread Ronni Brown
Hi Rosemary,

So where are we at now… is the Apple USB SuperDrive still not working on your
MacBook Pro?
Your MacBook Pro is recognising the USB SuperDrive connected to the USB Port.
So if it is still ’spitting’ Discs out, something on your system is set
incorrectly or causing the problem.

After you installed the macOS update Combo 10.12.6 did you then run Software
Update and install all updates shown?
There was an update for iTunes to version 12.6.2 (.20)

You mentioned originally that you “dragged to desktop CD Info.cidb”.
Have you tried moving that file back where it came from as a corrupted CD
Info.cidb will prevent only AudioCDs to be recognised.
~/Library/Preferences?CD Info.cidb

Cheers,
Ronni

Hi again Rosemary,

On some Macs the Option key restart does not work, if you find that happens
with your MBP
A) Choose Apple menu > Restart.
B) After your Mac restarts (some Mac computers play a startup sound), press and
hold the Command + R keys until the Apple logo appears, then release the keys.

Re: usb superdrive not loading discs

2017-07-25 Thread Ronda Brown
1. Boot from the 'Recovery Partition', restart your Mac and hold down the
Option key.
When the Mac restarts, you are greeted by icons for all of the available
drives. There should be a drive designated “Recovery-10.12” - this is the
Recovery Partition for your Sierra boot drive.

2. Use your mouse, trackpad, or keyboard for arrow keys to highlight the
“Recovery-10.12” drive, then press Return.

3. Once the system has booted, four macOS Utilities are listed, one of which is
Disk Utility.

4. Click Disk Utility to select it, then click the Continue button.
The familiar Disk Utility window appears.

5. Click on the drive requiring repairs, then click First Aid again.
As before, Disk Utility will take the volume through the Live Verification
process.
When it finds errors on that volume, it can now repair them since you’ve booted
from another disk.

Let us know the results please.

Cheers,
Ronni

 Hi there,
I've got a problem with my usb superdrive. I plug in, put in disc. It
makes noises then spits out disc without showing up on desktop or loading.
I tried it in my husband's macbook pro (13 in early 2013) and it works
 fine!
So far tried with no success:
 different discs prerecorded and blank
 the other usb port.
 rebooted the computer
dragged to desktop CD Info.cidb and re-started
 reset PRAM
 reset SMC

 Any suggestions?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013) running Sierra 10.12.6

Re: usb superdrive not loading discs

2017-07-24 Thread Ronni Brown
Hi Rosemary,

If Disk Utility will not load and Repair your Drive, you have some problems
with your Sierra operating system!

If you don’t have the macOS10.12.5 Combo Updater to run over the top of your
10.12.5 system.
I would suggest you try to run the macOS 10.12.6 Combo updater and see if it
will help.

I posted to the list last week with details of:
Apple Releases macOS 10.12.6, iOS 10.3.3, watchOS 3.2.3, and tvOS 10.2.2

There was a link in that email to download the macOS 10.12.6 Combo Updater
… but here is the link again.

Disconnect anything connected to your MacBook Pro before you run the Combo
Updater.
Let us know your result, if you are able to install the 10.12.6 Combo and then
run Disk Utility - First Aid?

Cheers,
Ronni

2. Plug in the Superdrive
3. Boot MacBook Pro with the Superdrive plugged in

usb superdrive not loading discs

2017-07-14 Thread Rosemary Spark
Hi there,
I've got a problem with my usb superdrive. I plug in, put in disc. It makes
noises then spits out disc without showing up on desktop or loading. I
tried it in my husband's macbook pro (13 in early 2013) and it works fine!
So far tried with no success:
different discs prerecorded and blank
the other usb port.
rebooted the computer
dragged to desktop CD Info.cidb and re-started
reset PRAM
reset SMC

Any suggestions?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013) running Sierra 10.12.6

Cheers
Rosemary
