[Warzone-dev] Neglecting trac tickets
Yes, I know trac tickets are very boring to handle, but all these have been waiting for a long time, and I am not sure how we check / handle these translations. It also makes us look bad, if they think we are ignoring them, and won't update things later! We also got multiple copies of some translations, and I have no idea which one is better. Do we just copy over the .po files assuming everything is correct, or do we somehow test them first? Mind you, I can't get *any* translation to work on my system. http://developer.wz2100.net/ticket/239 http://developer.wz2100.net/ticket/241 http://developer.wz2100.net/ticket/243 http://developer.wz2100.net/ticket/321 http://developer.wz2100.net/ticket/334 http://developer.wz2100.net/ticket/350 ___ Warzone-dev mailing list Warzone-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/warzone-dev
[Warzone-dev] Helping out the project
We are short of active developers, and we could use more help. It is a huge PITA for the release maintainer to handle all that needs to be done themselves, and then nobody wants to be the release maintainer, since it is a ton of extra (boring) work, like updating the changelog. For those that want to help the project, and you don't code, then all you really need to do is read the svn log, and then add the relevant information to the changelog. There is a changelog for each version that we have. http://developer.wz2100.net/browser/branches/2.2/ChangeLog http://developer.wz2100.net/browser/trunk/ChangeLog Here are the svn logs, in case you don't have a svn client. http://developer.wz2100.net/log/trunk http://developer.wz2100.net/log/branches/2.2 Yes, every little bit counts. :) ___ Warzone-dev mailing list Warzone-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/warzone-dev

All true, but the reason is probably less that it is boring to do, but more that most of us have a lot of other stuff to do as well. Do we just copy over the .po files assuming everything is correct, or do we somehow test them first? I think gettext has some kind of merge command, which you could to run. Don't remember it anymore though, so you would have to look it up. I recommend reading http://freeciv.wikia.com/wiki/Localization and http://freeciv.wikia.com/wiki/Gettext_Guide as a quick reference. We should give translators svn access to update their translations. Otherwise we will just get a huge backlog of changes and people will give up. - Per ___ Warzone-dev mailing list Warzone-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/warzone-dev
