There should not be space in `safari watir`. You should do this (
http://watir.com/installation/):

sudo gem update --system
sudo gem install firewatir
sudo gem install safariwatir

> So I decided to do a "gem install watir"

That does not work on Mac.

[wtr-general] Wiki cleanup (was Watir 1.6.5.rc1 - release candidate available for testing)

As Bret suggested in another thread to clean up the wiki, I suggest that
this page should be cleaned up. I would delete everything under `Watir 1.6

pages:

http://wiki.openqa.org/display/WTR/Notes-1.5.1.1127

"gem update --system --no-rdoc --no-ri" took a long time too, but probably
only 1/3 or 1/2 of full install, I did not measure. Should we recommend

I have moved the most of the content of wiki blogs page to watir.com/blogs.

I did not move `Feeds` section of the page, because I do not find it very

I plan to delete Blogs (http://wiki.openqa.org/display/WTR/Blogs) and Blog
Feeds (http://wiki.openqa.org/display/WTR/Blog+Feeds) page from the wiki in
the next few days. I did not move any content from Blogs Feeds wiki page
because I think feeds can easily be found.

Good idea. I could not find that setting, maybe only Confluence admins have

What do you want to do?

You can use collections to see only elements that you are interested in:

http://wiki.openqa.org/display/WTR/Collections+of+HTML+Elements

browser.select_lists.each { |select_list| select_list.flash }

Since the page is simple, you can use index to locate elements:

browser.select_list(:index, 1).flash

Try this: open any page in IE, activate IE dev toolbar, close IE with dev
toolbar still open. When you open IE the next time dev toolbar should be
activated.

You have to add {code} (the best in separate line, so it is clearly visible)
before and after your code. That will fix it.

"browser.helperApps.neverAsk.saveToDisk. I didn’t even know this one
existed, but it’s great. This is a comma separated list of mime types that
will always get saved to disk, so again, I know that I won’t get stuck at
the confirm download prompt. (This is my favourite – previously, we’ve had
to set these up by hand by actually downloading an instance of the file. I’m
very happy to be automating this.)"

[wtr-general] Watir merge: ChromeWatir

2009-10-23 Thread Željko Filipin
I had a chat today with Sai, author of ChromeWatir, and he agreed that I
could upload chromewatir-1.5.0.gem to RubyForge.

I have created chromewatir package at wtr project and uploaded it there:

http://rubyforge.org/frs/?group_id=104

Soon you will be able to do this:

gem install chromewatir

Thanks to Sai for creating the project.

We have such list. This is it. Big majority of the posts here (my rough
estimate is 99%) are from people new to Watir. We have other lists
(wtr-development and wtr-core) that are not for beginners.

I have committed some time to help people here, but I can not read minds. I
need data to help. The problem is not lack of will to help, the problem is
that there are a lot of really bad questions.

I have recently also had a fresh Ruby and Watir installation and had some
problems. I would recommend:

(from http://watir.com/installation/)

- ruby186-26.exe (http://rubyforge.org/frs/?group_id=167)
- gem update --system
- gem -v (check if you get 1.3.5)
- gem install watir (should install 1.6.2)

If that fails:

(from http://wiki.openqa.org/display/WTR/Development+Builds)

- ruby186-27_rc2.exe
- gem update --system
- gem -v (check if you get 1.3.5)
- download all 1.6.5.rc2 files from
http://wiki.openqa.org/display/WTR/Development+Builds
- gem install watir (should install 1.6.5.rc2)

Let us know if both fails.
