re: Andy's grunts
One of the things I really enjoy about Andy Griffith's performances in TAGS--during both the black and white and the color years--is the way he uses grunts, sighs, and various other forms of non-word verbalization to express himself. He seems to have used these more than other TV actors, and I think it's part of what makes his performances seem so genuine. In real life, people use more than complete sentences or even just standard words to communicate, so those little things Andy adds to his character make him seem more like a real person. I see my three other shows made it. The Hillbillies. Green Acres and Petticoat junction TAGS and Beverly Hillbillies are the 2 best all time shows on TV. TAGS, Bev. Hillbillies, Green Acres are my all-time favorites. If I had to compile my own personal list, I guess I would have a 3-way tie @ the #1 spot. Season one of GOMER PYLE, USMC will be released on DVD December 12, 2006! It's not yet known if there will be any extra's, but it is known that all 30 episodes of the first season is included. As far as Mayberry Idol goes, hands down the winning performance would be Charlene singing There is A Time... I agree With Ellie Walker singing Away In A Manger as first runner up and Peggy McMillian singing Down In The Valley for second place. If it weren't for Gomer's rendering of Santa Lucia Rafe Hollister could might be the one to give all three ladies a run for their money with Look Down That Lonesome Roadand isn't it ironic that Andy had previously played a character called Lonesome Rhodes. TAGS trivia is a wonder in itself. I noticed something in Man in a Hurry episode regarding why he couldn't call anyone because of the sisters chatting. Apparently it wasn't just a party line thingif it were why didn't he call from somewhere's else? Is there only one line out of town? In the opening scene of “The Clubmen”, Roger Courtney drops Andy off right in front of the courthouse (I mean right smack dab in front of the courthouse). Top Twenty countdown
Hello all! Wanted to let you know of a show on the Country Music Television channel, and would like to tell you all to watch it if you can. While flipping through the channels last night, I came across a show hosted by John Schneider of the Dukes of Hazard. It was called the Top Twenty Country Comedy Shows. I stopped as I saw a collage before they went to commercial, and I saw a Picture of Barney and Earnest T. So, I started watching. I'd missed the first 13 or so, (they were counting back from 20), and saw where Green Acres, Beverly Hillbillies, Dukes of Hazard, as well as a couple shows I never watch, were in this countdown. I just knew The Andy Griffith Show had to be in there somewhere, so I kept watching. My husband who had started watching with me, was fairly sure TAGS was already Mentioned or maybe not made it---ugh, what'd he say?? Myself, being the die-hard TAGS fan I am, was sure it was up in that last few. It just had To be. Well, TAGS fans, when he started describing the number one show, Guess what?? TAGS WAS THE NUMBER 1 SHOW!!! So, if you can catch the show, I would suggest it. Just wanted to let you all know, it's official, just what we all know here at WBMUTBB, TAGS IS NUMBER 1!!!
